He was like that anyway the documentary said so much with the barrage of expletives. I've yet to see or hear any sound reasoning that specifically him & Craig bellamy were at loggerheads.

Don't we currently have a coach that was brought in to replace Bellamy on VK's coaching staff if he'd have stayed. That seemed a fair indication of a fall out.

The 23/24 season was a wretched experience for all involved.
Can we just agree on that and not spend anymore time discussing it on this summer transfer window thread?

I absolutely agree with this Elizabeth and if we do sign Broja then it's got the potential to be a critical addition in us being competitive and staying up, but if it's fallen through for any reason whatsoever then we simply move on. We don't pay Chelsea over the odds and we don't gloss over any deficiencies apparent in his medical. And we don't let his agent bend us over! I trust the club to get it right (as best they can without a crystal ball).Elizabeth wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 9:23 pmA striker may or may not be the difference between staying up and helping our finances or going down and going through the whole uncertainty once again. It doesn't have to be Broja, who has question marks already over his injury record, but who a lot of fans are willing to take a risk on. Fair enough.
If the club are being messed around by this agency ( reps) I trust the club to do the right thing and take up other options that are still out there.

The top 3 transfers this window will all be centre forwards, they're at a premium. They all cost more than we could even dream about.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 1:23 pmI absolutely agree with this Elizabeth and if we do sign Broja then it's got the potential to be a critical addition in us being competitive and staying up, but if it's fallen through for any reason whatsoever then we simply move on. If Broja signs, and stays fit he could be the bargain of the year. The idea we just ditch him and move onto the next one as if they're hanging from trees is ridiculous.
We're all impatient for a conclusion, but no need for any knee jerk reactions

But Colburn, Burnley are not in a position to splurge £20m + on a player who is high risk due to potential injury risk, not fitting in or whatever else. We've seen that too many times in recent years Weghorst, springs to mind, he simply didn't want to play for us, whilst others have mysteriously disappeared with no explanation given. We already have a few £15m players injured or missing in action...if Broja is too much of a risk, then move on.

Where are you getting those figures for Broja from?
The only figure that’s been out there up until now is ‘£20m deal’. I appreciate that’s the overall package but haven’t seen anything on social media quoting the £10m or £15m mentioned above.

I do think Alan has learned something this time round, probably from Parker. There's absolutely no guarantees in the bear pit which is the PL, especially for the newbies, but you HAVE to gamble and you HAVE to get a decent sprinkling of experience. That's probably where we got it most wrong under VK. We're certainly giving ourselves a chance, but we'll still be favourites to go straight down and that's fair enough.

Ok…..Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 8:42 pmBecause it "appeared" it was basically all wrapped up days ago, including the medical and we were supposedly well down the road with Broja before we started sniffing round Les. Obviously I could be wrong and tbh I hope I am because he could potentially be a brilliant signing, but things don't tend to be "imminent" in the transfer business for 4 or 5 days.

It wasn't a conversation about his injury history, but telling his agent to do one for messing us around. We've shown patience and it's paid off. 10 mill up front for Broja is a steal. My post was towards those who thought just move on to the next one, as if strikers with his skill set grow on trees.Billyblah wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 5:09 pmBut Colburn, Burnley are not in a position to splurge £20m + on a player who is high risk due to potential injury risk, not fitting in or whatever else. Re: Summer transfer window
Fingers crossed we can get a lot of players moved on in the next few weeks.
If I was really greedy I'd still take another technical midfielder and a CB but realistically we've done the buisness we needed this time around. We've recruited players more fit for the challenge imo (a mix of experience and athleticism), we've addressed the key areas in the squad, and we've done it before the season starts.
No complaints from me even if we don't get any more through the door- but we do need to get some out. (I think there are a few lined up).

In today's game that looks like good business for all the quality we've brought in.
Re: Summer transfer window
Less than last time possibly then and with less commitment to spend next summer with the loan to permanent deals.
Brought in around 30 with the Trafford deal as well so don't think it's too bad. Guessing a lot of it will be installments and based on certain conditions being met as well.

Jacob Bruun Larsen
Max Weiß
Axel Tuanzebe
Kyle Walker
Martin Dúbravka

The list of players:
Humphries
Flemming
Hannibal
Edwards
Anthony
Hartmann
JBL
Uguchukwa
Walker
Weiss
Dubravka
Tchaouna
I feel like we've got great value for our signings this season to be honest, less future commitments and we've also got good money back on Trafford.
The club has definitely shown it's learned lessons this window imo, praise to them for that.

Re: Summer transfer window
It’s a shame Zeki got injured as I imagine we would have pocketed £12-15m for him. Hopefully somebody takes the obvious (Tresor, Benson, Obafemi, Delcroix, Churlinov) off us even if just on loan.
Very happy to see Broja confirmed - let’s hope the lad has a healthy, injury free season. I think that if he can stay fit he will prove himself a very good signing for us. I think the question of £10 or £20m is perhaps linked in with Ugochukwu too. We clearly agreed deals on both at a similar point in time so I’d imagine it’s difficult to know what the split out on that overall package is.
I still believe we definitely need a centre back (as Tuanzebe is a risk fitness wise, Worrall isn’t good enough in my opinion, and Beyer is a total question mark) and if being greedy, another centre mid. It would make sense for us to look at loan-to-buy deals for these two roles, and probably only something we might act on after we’ve shipped a few out.

Re: Summer transfer window
I take it you are including two players who were Champ signings and signing permanently regardless (Flemming and Humphreys)? As I didn’t include them (as really they were last seasons ‘budget’) and I’m around 70-75m.
Net spend with Massengo, Costelloe and Trafford therefore around £40m.

That was the case last week it was £20m from the off some people on here decided to deduct 50% from that & 10m became the popular figure bandied about. Claretpete a couple of days ago requested where £10m came from & still waiting. Anyway I know what's coming it's the transfer thread I don't wish to argue.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 6:04 pmYeah nobody really knows, my point was simply that nobody on here was choosing to ignore facts and make fees up
