Won't play for us again. Parker couldn't make use of him in the Championship and has essentially told him he doesn't want him in the Premier League. All this is is trying to boost the fee we'll get for him since we've managed to turn him from a £20m player to one we wouldn't get half that for in the space of 12 months.
Surprised you haven't claimed Parker has blood on his hands..... oh wait you have
Hopefully you get over this soon

When was he a £20m player?! He was about £2-3m wasn't he? Which was probably about right.

I believe we were offered £20m after the first VK season. Wolves rings a bell but I might be wrong.

Koleosho has always been more about the potential than the current ability.
He's a long way off being a starter these days in our team. I have zero doubt he'll do well in Spain - Anthony looked Messi-esque during his loan over there last season.
I think best we hope for is he does really well and adds significantly to his value. If we sell him at a half decent profit, we've gained. If he steps up and is able to be a good player for us, even better.
Currently it seems like he wants more guaranteed game time than we are prepared to commit to, so with so many wide players, it makes perfect footballing and financial sense to move him on in the short term.

He did that himself by putting his head down and deciding to run as fast as he can into brick walls and down blind alleys.
His stats are atrocious.
We got him for virtually nothing and he has time to develop so even getting a few first team appearances out of him was probably more than we should have expected for a player of his age and lack of experience at any kind of decent level.
He played in the recent u21 championships but prior to this tournament he was a regular on the bench for Italy’s younger teams - who weren’t even that good at that level.
Personally all that said I would have still kept him this season just as he offers something different to us and I was hoping he could develop more than he did last year and learn out to lift his head up more and play the correct ball. Hopefully he’ll get that in his loan spell.

We didn’t sign him until after the first VK season, so I suspect you’re mistaken.

Think he's getting his years mixed up but there was definitely reports that Wolves made a big bid for him last summer. I'm sure over £20 million was mentioned

He was called up the Italy U19s in March 2023, he played in 7 of their next 8 matches in the following 8 months, starting 3. This was when they
won the U19 Euros (so much for not even being good for the level

). He then immediately went into the U21s making his debut in November 2023, their next match was March 2024 when he was injured.

Last summer when every player left in the last few weeks, Wolves came in with an interest at £20m for Luca and all Burnley fans said it would be the last straw, so the club distanced themselves from the interest.

Or maybe he thinks he's not ready and would benefit from a season on loan where he's likely to get more minutes.
I doubt Parker will still be the manager when he returns anyway.

Not sure why Koleosho is being discussed on here when there is a Koleosho thread!
Certainly all quiet on the incoming front. Still a week to go!

If they had been that good in the last few years then Italy wouldn’t be experiencing their worst decade in international football in their history.
But to get back to the point if Koleosho was as good as you were making out then surely he’d have torn up a poor league like the championship rather than what he did most of the time on the pitch - give the ball away all the time and sulk.

Keep 3-4 pages of what the thread's about and lose the 4-5 pages of the usual suspects repeating their tired old arguments? Not seeing the problem, to be honest.
* By the way, I'm aware of the irony of appearing on this thread in order to criticise it, so don't bother pointing that out.

Another winger...
I get the idea that you can't always sign the players in the positions you need when you want them, and sometimes you'll sign a player you want for a position you don't need to fill just because they're available. But this late in the window where we have glaring gaps all over the squad even I'd be wondering WTF.

I mean, the U19 team he played in won the Euro U19 championship - he played in every game of the tournament including the final. That would suggest Italy U19 were pretty good at that time rather than "weren't even that good at that level" to quote you word for word. Generally what winning the Euro U19 championship means is that they were the best U19 side in Europe at that time - that's not a hard concept hard to grasp. How the senior team is performing is irrelevant to "that level", which is what you were talking about when you were saying "weren't even that good at that level".

Just nonsense, Koleosho had more tackles per 90 than Anthony. Hard to achieve that if he just sulked when he gave the ball away.
But the way Parker set up last season didn't suit him, neither did being shunted onto his weaker flank immediately after Anthony was signed. However, I don't see how you could have watched the Spurs game and thought that wouldn't have suited Koleosho given how often we were breaking on a high defensive line - it's similar to why Foster topped the player ratings against Spurs despite getting panned for his performances by fans last season.

OK, we get it. You have a mega hard on for Luca. The fact is, as said by many before me, when he pulls on the Claret shirt he has been below average ever since his injury. You don’t see it well go to specsavers. I hope he has a great career but he’s a long way to go.

Thanks Claretlegend and congratulations on providing a link, as opposed to all the garbage debate on Koleosho which has dominated the post since yesterday who I must remind people has gone. He is no longer in the squad, and is loaned out, so still our player-lets move on please.

Getafe is contemplating the sale of 22-year-old Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche as a result of financial difficulties and the necessity to register new signings. The club, which initially valued Uche at over €20 million, is now open to considering offers below €15 million. Burnley has expressed interest in Uche, particularly following his impressive performance against Celta de Vigo. Other clubs, such as Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United, have also been linked with the player. The club's delicate financial situation is well-known to potential buyers, who might leverage this information to negotiate a lower transfer fee. Uche's contract with Getafe extends until 2028, and Transfermarkt estimates his market value at €15 million.

I’m always suspicious of links that just list the expected bottom clubs in the Premier League. Sounds like agent talking their player into the PL rather than a genuine link.

I don't remember us signing many players that Sunderland and Leeds also were linked with. Edwards apparently chose us over Sunderland, but most of the players we sign don't seem to mention those clubs. I'd throw that rumour in the bin.
