As much as I thought he was a classy player, sadly it's a no from me. We just can't afford a highly paid player who will most likely have long injury lay offs on our books.
If he signs a pay per play deal, I'd pick him up tonight but there's obviously zero chance of that happening.

Let’s just sell al-dakhil, McNally, weghorst and Tresor, bring the 3 lads in tomorrow along with billing before Friday and then switch all the clubs phones off and go back to having the best squad in the league again
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
We still need a striker. We can’t go until January with Jay, Foster and Hountondji as our strikers.

A fully fit Ings would p1ss this league. I'd be happy to see him here for a season, even if he only played half the games. I doubt it's going to happen, but I'd rather see him here than Leeds.

They’ve learnt that you need a squad that’s happy, and has some harmony. They’re backing the manager and clearing out those who threaten that.BigGaz wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 9:40 pmWe've asked about him within the last week. That's as far as I've been told and I've not heard anything since. Same guy who knew about Mejbri quite a bit sooner before everyone else. Usual caveats apply.
I will say that there are lots of things that you can level at Pace and Co this window; whether they've thrown the baby out with the bathwater, whether they've left it too late; this whole WhatsApp debacle - but from what Ive heard they are having a real go as the window comes to a close. Couldn't tell you whether it's targeted, sensible business that's been planned all along or if it's blind panic but they are trying to back Parker.
That’s good business.
I thought we’d have one at least two over the line today, pretty sure Tony will have these and potentially three more articles written up.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Ings is the highest paid player at West Ham, on £150k a week. He’s already turned down a move back to Southampton, the club he supports, and all his family support.
On those things alone, any suggestion he’ll be coming anywhere near a return to Burnley are farcical.
That’s before you factor in that his social reputation around the town wasn’t exactly sparkling when it came time to leave, and he did a lot to try to limit the amount of money received by the club for him.
And then there’s the injuries….

Just watched the highlights reels on the three players linked. Some impressions…
Sarmiento- tricky show off
Anthony- languid Glen Little
Mejbri - the reel (from Birmingham season) was 11 mins I think and I was glued to it. All action. Trickery, passing, tackling with an edge. Very impressive.

I'm not sure the clearing out process is based upon selecting players who disrupt this harmony (if there is any) more to do with who's wanted elsewhere & who will bring in the most money & alleviate the existing financial structural obligations. The positive (there is 1) nobody will be left soon & the window is getting closer.Cooclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 11:01 pmThey’ve learnt that you need a squad that’s happy, and has some harmony. Don't let facts get in the way of your story... SP has come and said that is the reason, so presumably you know better than him. Some posters just cant wait to have a dig at the club for some reason.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 7:25 amI'm not sure the clearing out process is based upon selecting players who disrupt this harmony (if there is any) more to do with who's wanted elsewhere & who will bring in the most money & alleviate the existing financial structural obligations. Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
So coincidentally the people who are wanted elsewhere & will achieve maximum money in sales are the harmony disruptors. I get why people have to be sold & the debt & financial obligations but I wouldn't say the people that have left or are leaving have been negative influences.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Brighton supporting mate of mine says Sarmiento is a good player, they just don't have the space for him (Brighton are very strong in those positions). Can play on the centre or left and is very direct, he's quick and good skill set.
Brighton have a very good scouting network so I think this could be a good signing even if on loan.

Who actually knows who is and who isn't? As well as getting decent fees for ones that quite clearly will want to go when a club at a higher level comes in for them, we've also most likely trimmed the wage bill, which is generally another requirement when a club goes down.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 7:34 amSo coincidentally the people who are wanted elsewhere & will achieve maximum money in sales are the harmony disruptors. I'll wait to see how this week pans out, but I'm not sure there's much that could be done for those that have gone. I still trust we'll get 4 or 5 in to keep us competitive. Plus we've got some good talent to come back from injury
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
It can happen on a smaller scale but you don't get that many players unhappy, it just doesn't happen!... What we have done with the sheer amount of outgoings is pretty much unprecedented after going down... NOBODY here or anywhere predicted it at the start of the summer!...Cooclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 11:01 pm

Transfer teams that are on top of it, don't release players before securing like-for-like replacements and they certainly don't remove the core in such a short space of time, leaving you with a depleted team with a defender playing as a striker, and also with 2 goalkeepers and kids on the bench!...
They also don't sell experience like Guðmundsson if there is unrest, they do everything to keep him, even if it means offering a coaching role... And why sell Twine if all the 10s are going?...
Add to the fact that Estève, Brownhill and Parker all made it obvious in post-match interviews recently after the last game that they are not happy with the board in how they are handling it, it is pretty obvious to anyone, that they have made a pig's ear of it...
On your last point... Anyone who thinks there are articles ready other than guesswork is naive but anyone thinking what we have done is "good business" is beyond naive... It is also not what they have done but mainly how they have done it!

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
We don't know every nitty gritty detail but as far as I can tell the people that have left or are leaving have been professional no public bust ups or handing in transfer requests. you couldn't wish for a better bunch then again I suspect there hasn't been much arm twisting involved getting what they want. I just don't subscribe to the notion that the people that have left or are leaving have been bad apples.Belial wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 7:46 amWho actually knows who is and who isn't? It’s all about opinions Big Cc not necessarily about naivety.
I personally think we have done excellent business, trimmed a massively bloated squad, got rid of want away players, sold some jewels to recoup, fetchedfetching some solid and professional recruits in. It gives SP a much sleeker, willing and cohesive unit to work with and forge a squad capable of maintaining a long hard slog of a season.
Those that still want away need to go asap or buckle down and show their worth in time for January window.
On another note, can’t wait to see the massed locks of Hannibal and Massengo tearing up the midfield. Josh Cullen needs to sort out his barnet quickly.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
For me the jury is out with Sarmiento. Yes he has skill … tricky but for Brighton and other clubs he hasent really shown anything. A bench warmer at best coming on in last 10 minutes type player for me.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
On all news outlets talking about Newcastle's interest in Trafford saying about huge potential … but nothing been say about the calamitous season he has with us in premier league.

In behind a solid, robust, experienced and organised defence he will be a top keeper, he's never had that here, the poor sod was hung out to dry by Kompany. Solid back fours are the foundation all teams are built on alas not in Kompany's world.
