A chat to Mark Warburton might be useful

That Eze, the big lad in CM would do!

Some Preston fans thinking we're signing Pearson, don't know what makes them think that other than he's not playing today apparently

They don't need to talk to us, they have had him (transfer wise) for free for two years now on loan and this summer when his second loan is up I think he can walk away for free when his contract is up, why would they deal with us now for a fee of around say 3 million when come July he will cost nothing.

Apparently, we can activate an extra year so it ends summer 2021.

QPR look to have a few decent youngsters we could do a lot worse than take a bit of a gamble on.

Bloody hell! A link!!!!! And actually a lot to like there and from reading that I'd take the lot of them, especially at the prices quoted, but sadly I have to assume it's just a bored journo with a long Friday afternoon to fill and it means bog all. (Sadly)

I expect you're right.
I can't see us breaking the club record for a virtually unknown foreigner.
Just thought I'd pass it on though.

I thought the winger, Samuel? looks promising.......Eze will be out of our price range/going elsewhere this summer.....at least 6-12 months too late with that one, even with a P/ex with Wells.

The Swedish guy at Bristol Titty sounds like someone worth taking a punt on, even if we can't get them to sell us Brownhill.

Nor me. He wasn't massively impressive against England, there's lots more abroad better & probably cheaper.....if the recruitment team are looking in the right places & not just doing what they do with the Chumpy..... picking on the most eye-catching player in each league!

The line halfway down the article is more surprising than our link.
Burnley flop Rouwen Hennings now a Bundesliga star.

I think it’s been posted 3’or 4 times now but Dyche laughed off the link to the Fenerbahce striker.

Give the club a chance we only need about 4 players (certainly 2) but there is 1 week and 6 days still left. The fax machine has only just got its annual safety certificate.

The club needs to bring in a few new faces , even if it just boosts the morale of the fans slightly in the ground.
At the moment we see our team out of ideas going forward, and struggling to defend also . With us now being only 2 points above the relegation zone with a run of tough tough fixture upon us I’d imagine we will be in the bottom 3 sooner rather than later , and with the current crop playing the way they are, I don’t see us coming out of it. Simply seeing yourself in the bottom 3 can mentally hurt certain players as well, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the club prove me and many others wrong , by pulling out a signing or two which can give us a little more quality and diversity in the way we operate in games .
My gut feeling is we use our 1 Premier League loan on the last few days of the window and whoever it may be doesn’t feature . Hope I’m wrong !!

So there’s been one new link on this thread in the last two weeks and Dyche laughed at the suggestion?

from Mirror 19:20pm Sat 18th Jan:
Boro negotiating over Gibson return
Middlesbrough will take back Ben Gibson – but only if they reach an agreement on wages with Burnley.
The Teessiders are desperate for centre-half cover with Daniel Ayala and Ryan Shotton out.
Gibson, 27, a favourite before his Boro departure two years ago, has made one Clarets appearance so far this season.

Sounds like another fiasco when a player we played good money for gets to play somewhere else at no benefit to us.Boro must have decent players we can swop Gibson for.In any case they have a millionaire chairman who can pay all his nephew's wages at least that's gets an unhappy player off the wage bill

Its a striker with pace we need, midfield at the moment is an irrelevance as in the main it's by passed.

Boro have been cutting wages left, right and centre.

I'm in no way shooting the messenger but why would we weaken ourselves AND help out with wages when we aren't exactly flush with cash ourselves? Obvious link but is this realistic?

I can’t see Gibson going without someone coming in. Long and Dunne won’t be trusted as able back-ups.

Gibson going to Boro on loan makes sense for everyone, as long as we have the option to recall him in case of injuries.

How does loaning out a £15m signing benefit us though? As time ticks on his contract his value is decreasing, we’d be much better cashing in on him ASAP imo.

He'd get to play some football and then we can reassess things in the summer. Would be a big risk to sell him and finish the season with just 3 centre backs at the club.

Until we've lost the ball of course, so about 65% of the time, but you're right, we need a striker with pace......then about 5 others who can keep up with him

I do get the feeling we’re not actively looking to add this window.
I know we keep things quiet, and I’m well aware of “difficult market”, “parameters”, “constraints”, “deals available to us”, and all the rest of the soundbites, but I just get the feeling things aren’t going to get any more interesting than they are now.
Whether this is Dyche being happy with the squad or all our money evaporating for some reason I don’t and will not know of course, but there we are.

And just as I say that, here’s the Nixon news. Dael Fry.
https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football ... lesbrough/
Can’t help but laugh if this is true really. The sheer mental gymnastics required to look at our performances and our squad and decide that what we’re lacking is a centre half.

Straight swap Gibson for Fry would make sense. Gibbo is too good to be a bench warmer, Fry could come in and improve under SDs defensive coaching. One for the future.
