Dan James to Leeds, the fee is £30M, wow !
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
If we stay as we are, has this been a decent window?

They spend 100 per season - they need to spend money, so give it time.

I'm sure that at the start of the window he was said to be available for much less than that?

An improvement on previous. And I know this is seen as the "happy clappy" view, but not losing our best players (again) is hugely important.

I can’t help but feel your scale needs re-calibrating.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 6:39 pmI would say currently a 5/6 window but if we can get a CM and a striker it’s a 10/10 window

You never know, if we have a great window then Tarkowski might feel signing a new deal is a good option unless his future elsewhere is already decided.. but signing players like Cornet can only help

Collins and Cornet probably leave the score around 7/10.
If we manage any others tomorrow they each add another point on, providing they are in the Collins and Cornet profile and not the Lennon profile.
Definitely an improvement this summer.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I’m basing it on improving the first eleven. I think Collins and hennessey are good signings but in reality this season they will probably not get a minute of premier league football unless an injury happens. So 5/6 out of ten window for improving the first team with Cornet but if we can just strengthen 1 or 2 more positions it could quickly jump to a 10-10 window

If we could just commit another £30m in transfer fees, to take spending up to the £60m mark and commit another £8m in wages per year on top of the salary increases for the new signings, then we’ll be 10/10.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 6:51 pmI’m basing it on improving the first eleven. I think it’s been mentioned Christie is available 2-3m and Robert’s the same. That would be a 10-10 window for medandeclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 6:55 pmIf we could just commit another £30m in transfer fees, to take spending up to the £60m mark and commit another £8m in wages per year on top of the salary increases for the new signings, then we’ll be 10/10.

30 million for Dan James is absolutely mental. Apart from pace he's got absolutely nothing. I bet United can't believe their luck.

Roberts has a good cross on him if I remember. 7 assists last season from FB/WB. Sounds solid but would add something.

I have absolutely nothing to substantiate this but I think we’ll make a move for Daryl Dike.
Young striker with bags of potential, struck me as a Burnley type player and has already had a taste of English football. He could spearhead the US team for the next 10 years so will help the new owners market us over the pond.
I can’t see Jay or Barnes going for it, but a cash plus Vydra deal could work.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Certain clubs such as Man U. & Liverpool make people think that because they've played for the first team then they must automatically be good.
Same with Liverpool getting mega money for Solanke & Rhian Brewster. Laughing all the way to the bank.

Lennon and Collins good squad additions but at the moment Tarks and Cornet are both better than them.

Roberts wouldn’t start for us til Christmas I wouldn’t expect, he’s not back from tearing his groin til September. Then back on the grass building strength etc etcNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 7:10 pmFor me they both are good enough to start.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
And some of our fans think McNeil is only worth about 20 million. He's a far better player than Dan James.

He’s on the grass now isn’t he? That’s what swans fans seem to be saying. So surely that means 4-6 weeks from starting fCharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 7:15 pmRoberts wouldn’t start for us til Christmas I wouldn’t expect, he’s not back from tearing his groin til September. If we intend to progress Richardson we could just get rid of one striker. let's face it, Wood is the only goalscorer out of the 4 these days.

I think the wage bill goes up around 8m a year for the players already here, never mind new signings.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 6:55 pmIf we could just commit another £30m in transfer fees, to take spending up to the £60m mark and commit another £8m in wages per year on top of the salary increases for the new signings, then we’ll be 10/10.

£13m + 7 in add-ons, so selling James also contributes some to his wages!!

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Not sure Dyche would drop Lowton anyway. And with Bardsley as cover there'd be no need to rush Roberts anyway, unless we got an injury, or Lowtons form nosedived again.CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 7:15 pmRoberts wouldn’t start for us til Christmas I wouldn’t expect, he’s not back from tearing his groin til September. Bardsley may have been offered as part of the deal. There was talk of a cash + player offer made yesterday.

James is £30 million and all he can do is run. That could make cornet look very good value.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I think £30m seems over value, but it’s quite clear that running is definitely not all James can do.
Would he be a professional footballer, let alone one at Man Utd, if he had pace but didn’t know what to do with a football.
