I'm taking nowt for granted re Dwight/Everton...more of our best talent has ended up at Goodison Park than anywhere else.
Roll on 11pm tomo.

Thats offical enough. He turned us down.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Do you expect a busy day for us tomorrow CT? I would have thought if we still had "irons in the fire" the medical must have been already completed or they live close enough to get it all done in 1 day?

Be interesting to see how we play if Christie does sign. Do we go back to the 4-5-1/4-4-1-1 of the European qualification season?
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Well that’s pretty much the point isn’t it. He feels his future is better with a Championship club than a Premier League club. Why is that?boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 9:16 pmDoesn't really matter though.
He has to make what he thinks is the best choice for his future. So it's not Burnley, fair enough.
Adding to that - we are offering more money too.

If he’s chosen Bournemouth with less pay over us then fair play to him. Money definitely isn’t everything.
Personally I would have liked to have seen him in a Burnley top.

More surprising perhaps than turning us down is turning down a new contract with Celtic... to join Bournemouth

Cornet deal was over as he was off to Hertha Berlin for some.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We're Burnley not Barcelona, we can't compete with teams in lower divisions who pay their players less money than we do. It's simple.

Could be all sorts of reasons and we can't be sure it's true yet anyway.

Are Talksport and Helm the only sources for this?
Neither have proved reliable sources in the past, so just wondering.

Deep down Christie might not think he can hack it in the premier league, maybe thinks championship is the same standard as the Scottish Premiership, I know plenty of people do!

SSN only just reporting that both clubs are in discussion regarding Ryan Christie so hopefully we might still succeed but if not we still need a CM incoming as that is where we are vulnerable though another striker would have been nice.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
If a player doesn’t want to join us because he doesn’t think he is good enough to play for us then it looks like we have dogged a bullet. Fair play to him, lots of players think they are better then they but he clearly isn’t one of them. Issue for us is we have wasted all our time going after a player who never had any intention of playing for us!

Is it the same deadline for loan deals Tony? Or is there a couple of weeks extra open for those?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 7:57 pmI’ve none for outbound although I suspect we might have some u23s going out on loan.

4 years at Chelsea during which he’s played 12 Premier League games (5 of them starts) plus 1 league game for us, 4 for Villa and 11 (6 starts) for Kassimpasa.
Good work if you can get it.

For what it’s worth a Sky Sports News for Scotland just tweeted: ‘Burnley and Bournemouth are both in talks with Celtic over a potential deal for Ryan Christie.
Bournemouth appear to be leading the race, but a deal is not close at this stage.’
Sounds like we could still do some convincing.

CHRISTIE IN TALKS TO LEAVE CELTIC
Burnley and Bournemouth are both in talks with Celtic over a potential deal for attacking midfielder Ryan Christie.
Christie is a free agent on January 1st and has recently rejected a new offer from Celtic.
Bournemouth look like edging past Burnley in the race to sign the Scotland international but a deal is not close at this stage.

Perhaps this is like the Hertha Berlin are favourites for Cornet saga?
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Aside from Hertha never came close to matching Lyon’s valuation to have a bid accepted. Here both us and Bournemouth have agreed the fee.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 10:03 pmPerhaps this is like the Hertha Berlin are favourites for Cornet saga?

Seems tomorrow will be a day for British based players moving, clubs quoting that with Brexit and COVID issues there will be no time to get all the necessary paperwork done for foreign based players.

Just saying that for quite some time, regardless of what was mentioned in the media about our better offer etc etc, they Hertha were still favourites

Nixon been mentioning premier league loans which are expensive.. maybe Ross Barkley? Maitland Niles?
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Not that there is any mention of this but if there was a part exchange involving Ashley Barnes I would love to watch the Old Firm derby. Thinking about it, the post match interview could be tricky given the richness of the Glasgow and Ashley's accents.

The player Aston Villa didn’t play more often than not and who they didn’t buy with the Grealish windfall, are you sure?
Think he could well be another Drinkeater for whoever takes a punt on him, personally.
