Great post spt and this is the sort of thing that I was trying to get at albeit in a bit of a daft manner.spt_claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 7:25 pmJust my opinion on this but here's my 2 cents:
My previous employer, a rather corporate environment, did very little to reward loyalty or attend to employees with mental health issues. Physical health they were so-so, mental health, it was lip service to comply with laws. Several people eventually left, because the company didn't show much loyalty to its staff.
My current employer, I joined them and was offered a better salary elsewhere 3 weeks later. I turned this down, part for other reasons but in part because I believe loyalty does matter. I've had a number of personal circumstances since joining said employer that have required adjustments to my work patterns or location, they have been exceptionally understanding, they've also funded a qualification that I am midway through. I likely could get a better offer elsewhere if I jumped, and continue said course there, but I don't intend to, because I wish to repay that loyalty.
I understand our club is now owned by Wall Street finance men, Wall Street finance being a world where loyalty, honesty or principles don't tend to matter and the main priority is money. I would have hoped, and honestly thought, that even IF the ownership were of such mentality, then not all the recruitment would be. A spiral of mercenarial attitudes is bad for both business and society.
For all Dyche got stick for his defensive style or slow pace in the transfer market, he was about as loyal and high-integrity as there is in football nowadays. That matters, the proof is in the success it brought us.
Look at Man United, now that they don't have charlatans running the footballing/recruitment operation anymore are back to being sensible with who they sign, the deals that they give out & not paying OTT just because they can, to land a player - they know what builds success and it ain't what they've been doing for the previous decade or so.

Switched to Deadwood after Sarmiento came off. What a pleasant 25minutes. They were pants. 1-2 defeat at home to the donkey lashers.
Surprised to see Richard Keogh in temp charge of them. He was certainly taking it seriously.

Sorry no idea. I only came to it late on. Said on comms all subs had been used by both sides.
They did finish with Sigurdsson and Ohashi up front but they did little.

Selling Lyle will be terrible. Loaning him seems even more suicidal.

We’re making some serious profit on these players. Seems you don’t have to do much to double in value once you get to England.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Honestly not sure what to make of this now. Are we bust? Really wouldn't be surprised if Parker walks, and I wouldn't blame him.

I reckon we've hit the magic £150m mark now with Amdouni and Foster
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
What on earth is happening? Why do these clubs even want to buy some of these players.
£25m for Foster is staggering.

25m for Foster is class for us. But all of/some of that money needs to go into the squad. Not much time to do it.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
On the plus side it cant be long before everyone with connections to Belgium has been flogged and Sacha is ******.

Fair play to anyone going on about the profit here.
Lol.

To be honest, we’d be bonkers to turn down £25m for Foster.
I just hope we still have enough about us to not lose to Bastards.

Tell you what, football is f*cking mental.
Could you imagine 20 years ago a team going down in embarassing fashion would have their manager poached, and transfers for profit on all their players?
Get the frigging data-obsessed nutters out of the game holy sh1t.

What lineup do you think could win a game at the moment with what we have?

If Scott Parker wins promotion from here, the Royal Dyche should be renamed.

I've been supportive of selling for profit till a few days ago. But these last few means we won't even have enough senior players for Saturday.
Players talk to each other. What do you think will be happening with any planned incomings now? All players will be running scared. Surely we have reached asset stripping stage now and I am not a doom monger.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
What in the everloving **** is going on.
I'm sorry, all the posters grovelling to say "Just wait and see, trust the process, bedwetters" have to wind it in. If this goes ahead this is not normal relegated club behaviour.
"Leeds did this!" No they didn't. The year they went down, they cut a few fringe players who barely ever played, and lost 2 starters- Rodrigo, and Tyler Adams (who missed a chunk of the season due to injury, but I'll count as a starter as he played a lot before then).
The other players were on maybe 10 PL appearances at best the season they went down, they were very much fringe.
Ignoring the likes of Churlinov, Obafemi, Bastien who barely ever figured in the Championship, we've lost:
Muric (first choice year before, arguably should have been last season)
Zaroury (First choice year before)
Gudmundsson (First choice year before, squad player last season)
O'Shea (First choice)
Odobert (Squad at start who quickly became first choice)
Berge (First choice)
Amdouni (Started as first choice, but still a very regular bench/squad player at the end
Charlie Taylor (first choice)
Jack Cork (unused last year, squad player year before)
Al Dakhil (promising squad player hung out to dry)
And there's still expectations we will lose:
Koleosho (first choice before injury, first choice now)
Benson (Extremely important impact player year before)
Trafford (First choice, whatever people think of him)
Weghorst (Been AWOL for 2 years but was actually back in the side this year)
Now talk of Foster (first choice ever since he was signed, when fit). And outside talk of losing Brownhill (club captain, first choice) and Vitinho (squad player last 2 years but first choice of late).
If you think this is routine and clubs just can't possibly keep their players, you've not got a clue. If you think suddenly every single player at the club has become a bad apple wanting away, you don't understand people, let alone football. Nothing about this is normal.
