That makes complete sense sack him & pay him out or wait for Everton & receive compensation.
Of course it makes sense, as loyal as I believe he would be whilst still here, if such a deal had been made Pace was well within his rights to think "does SD and his team really want to give 100% whilst battling to stay in the league against his new employers, who of relegated may not pay him the same or give him same budget"

In a way , I agree with Burnley ace.
Getting sacked wasn't a results thing.
The timing etc etc smacks more of a gross misconduct thing.

It's interesting that the people who think that sacking Dyche was a good idea effectively come across as fantasists when talking about the future, isn't it?
I feel the same about the ones who wanted to keep him and live in the past quoting "orient game" every week.

Would he have been allowed to say goodbye to the players if it was gross misconduct?

Possibly he would. He would have still had to come empty his office and such, depends what the gross misconduct was for, something criminal possibly not, being tapped up by another club and agreeing a deal in sorts, possibly yes "Say your goodbyes and get out!!!"

Yes usually unless it's a suspension pending an investigation, part of me thinks the relationship between him & the players had completely broken down, maybe resentment & hostility regarding the poor results.

Pace and the other nasty clowns should be sacked
Hope we lose 10-0 at WHU
One of the most pathetic posts ever seen on this board. Call yourself a Burnley fan. Some absolute wet blanket stuff on this thread. A fan never wants us to lose.

Why on earth would anyone want us to lose tomorrow, a win and we might be on Everton's coattails.

The owners have failed to get investment from people who don't care what the football's like. That was their plan. That plan becomes even more difficult should we go down.

As for brand of football - I see it as six consecutive seasons in the Premier League against the odds, two top half finishes. Just be careful what you wish for because I think we are potentially coming to the end of the best years you might ever see as a Burnley fan.
If the last two years are the best were ever going to see as a Burnley fan then I'm giving up on football

Everton were handed certainly 1, arguably 2 soft penalties and we came back to win in the last few minutes with Pope yelling how we're not f***ing dead.

How is that poor performance?
How is that lack of team spirit or togetherness?

Everyone at the time felt invigorated. Do not try to rewrite that win as a mess because the Norwich game was a disaster.

People write things from emotion at times of stress. DAVE THE VICAR has followed Burnley home and away for many many years and I remember him being a very generous supporter of the club at functions we attended in the old Clarets Mad days… way before SD arrived. If your going to pick a target you would struggle to find a worse example.

I'm not targeting him, but we've all no doubt seen many managers, and sad as Dyche's departure was at the end, the club will survive him leaving, as we survived other managers leaving through the decades.

And if we do win tomorrow against the odds then so be it, the club will always be bigger than any one individual, be they manager or player.

Michael Brown who was the Five Live pundit didn't think they were.
Incidentally, Keith Hackett, who thinks they were, reckons the first should have been retaken for encroachment by Everton.
But go ahead and keep retroactively turning a good result where the team showed clear togetherness into proof we are hopeless and the team spirit was gone

… and despite only having spoken probably a dozen words to Dave over the years, I have little doubt he will be cheering us on as much as anyone tomorrow, and I’ll be surprised if he’s not at the game. Not particularly picking on you (apart you were the last person referencing it)… but I’d rather take notice of Dave than several of the posters calling him for his ‘emotional outburst’ the other day.

Only one opinion mattered and that's the referee, your the same type of supporter that if that was at the Burnley end would cry if we didn't get them.
Norwich showed our true togetherness.
Our league position tells you it's gone
The performances tell you it's gone

But let's keep crying about it because Dyche has gone.
I'd be happier watching us in the championship having a go than what I've watched the last few years

No I won’t. The point I’m making is many people are jumping to conclusions based on nothing but supposition. There is an alternative to the poor Dyche sacked by American owners who don’t understand Burnley or football.
But had he done anything wrong they’d have said his contract had been terminated, reasons confidential, etc, etc. They clearly state it’s for footballing reasons, the disappointing results and to give us the best chance of survival.

True, and what great days they were, then things have gone sadly downhill these last 18 months or so. Who's to blame.....Mike Garlick ? Alan Pace & co ? or Sean Dyche ? We all have our opinions.
But I guess that's what happens to a club our size, things seem to go around in cycles, we've perhaps had our turn in the limelight for now. UTC.

Really? The coldness of the club statement and subsequent silence does not suggest it’s a ‘thanks for all you’ve done and good luck for the future’ kind of thing. Whatever the reason, the relationship has broken down beyond repair. What that is though is purely conjecture at this point.

Dyche has been amazing for us And thank you to him for everything he has done seeing the words dyche, Burnley and sacked obviously doesn’t seem right but maybe it was dyche that didn’t want to continue.

So many players out of contract next season discussions with the board may not have gone well they want to recruit their own way ect. If we stay up you can have x amount if we go down we need to cash in and sell up, there is obviously no replacement lined up so it wasn’t planned maybe the club decided before dyche resigned

I've been saying for years that Dyche has been training the creativity out of players. We've seen it many times before. Look at Steven Defour, when he arrived he was such a creative joy to watch. After two months he was a midfield workhorse following a closely prescribed pattern of play. Same with Cornet. I can imagine if you are a creative playier being told to work in such a controlled and structed way would be very frustrating and The Athletic article seems to confirm that.

For legal reasons, especially if it was an unproven allegation, they would have released the kind of generic statement they did. Especially out of respect for what Sean has achieved with us over the last 10 years.

Up until the European season it was fantastic, it's slowly declined ever since with months and months of season a very hard watch. This season has been over 90% of games that are pretty much unwatchable.
I can't thank him enough for the days and memories he gave us but it was time to leave a long time ago

Talking of Defour, he’s posted several Insta stories but nothing on Dyche. Heaton some birthday well wishes. Cornet posted something I don’t understand and Pieters has posted about a pizza night with the Corks.

Nothing from Dyche or Woan whatsoever.

Have to say, I find the silence from our own players understandable but not our ex-players.

Something does feel odd.

I'd rather get relegated and be competitive in games, Fulham and Blackburn fans are happier than us right now because there watching football worth watching. I don't care what league were in as long as it worth watching there's a reason nobody wants to watch us on TV, because it's Sunday league stuff

Apologies I don't know how old you are, but if you consider the last 2 years dire then I'm guessing you weren't around in the 80's and the 90's when things were really bad.
Yes they were bad, but in a way they were good. I believe that those bad times and then our subsequent climb back up the leagues actually gave us a sense of belonging to our famous old football club. We had a thread on the Derby rearranged replay a few weeks ago, the memorable “Jimmy Mullens Claret and Blue Army” match. An atmosphere and a sense of belonging to Burnley FC and my fellow clarets that I don’t think will ever be matched. We had the Stan Ternent period of stabilisation and then Coyle took us up in that fantastic season. Again a massive sense of belonging.
I’m not saying let’s drop through the divisions again and I am not saying we are certainly relegated this season. However, if we do drop I can cope with a few seasons in the Championship with a progressive manager who wants to play football the right way and gets me excited about match days again.
What does trouble me though is the current stewardship of our famous old football club and I really hope that Pace and Co don’t leave us in a terrible mess a few years down the line when they jump ship. UTC.

We'll have a whole lot less TV viewers in the Championship if that's what you're worried about.
Less on the ground too.
Couldn't care how many as long as it's entertaining

Talking of Defour, he’s posted several Insta stories but nothing on Dyche. Heaton some birthday well wishes. Cornet posted something I don’t understand and Pieters has posted about a pizza night with the Corks.

Nothing from Dyche or Woan whatsoever.

Have to say, I find the silence from our own players understandable but not our ex-players.

Something does feel odd.
Was listening to Talksport coverage of Semi Final this afternoon

During a break Sam Matterface made some short comments on the sacking of Dyche

Dyche has been amazing for us And thank you to him for everything he has done seeing the words dyche, Burnley and sacked obviously doesn’t seem right but maybe it was dyche that didn’t want to continue.

So many players out of contract next season discussions with the board may not have gone well they want to recruit their own way ect. If we stay up you can have x amount if we go down we need to cash in and sell up, there is obviously no replacement lined up so it wasn’t planned maybe the club decided before dyche resigned
That wouldn't make sense. Why sack him and pay £xxxxxx in compo instead of letting him walk.

The same Defour who still holds fondness for Burnley and praises Dyche?
Yes, the very same. Are you telling me he kept the creativity we saw in that first month? Anyone remember that glorious ball over the top for a volley for Hendrick.

Something has clearly happened, something pretty major, and big enough to involve the entire first team coaching squad

That does limit what it can be it has to be said

I think injuries did his performances in more than anything, but yes he absolutely kept that X Factor especially as in the first month he was sometimes wide left just to accommodate him.
Also your point was about losing the dressing room. Given Defours opinions on Dyche- as a Belgian international while they were ranked near the top in the world- it's not good evidence in your favour.

The whole thing smacks of hearsay to steer the narrative to me especially as we've flipped from player mutiny to this in under 24 hours. But playing Devil's advocate an NDA with no compensation protects everyone's reputations and saves money.
The better question is simply- is it true? And even if there is an NDA- is this Twitter rumour true? Because you can just as easily use an NDA, and the silence it creates, to GENERATE suspicion as well as alleviate suspicion- as we are seeing with this game of Chinese whispers right now.
I think rumours ought to be very, very cautiously and hesitantly looked at, and taken with a heaping of salt without a verified reliable source willing to put their face to a claim and offer evidence.

All in all, on the slim chance (IMO) it's true the club is in a toxic disaster situation. If it's not true, that is possibly even worse, as it means we've got someone spreading lies for whatever reason. It's all giving me a sick, uneasy feeling.

This silence is deafening.

Until that changes I’m in the camp somethings up.

I think reading through the threads it is possible to pull together the chain of events that has lead us to this day.. Alex jones in the athletic has gotten pretty close to the feelings and events that lead up to friday. The real problem is what the future holds as Tony has suggested in terms of financial liability going forward. And people like Walne have suggested in previous threads. I think you will see the players give it a real go tomorrow. Whether it is enough is ano matter

From what Woans daughter tweeted it was not unexpected by Dyche or Woan - both were sitting in the garden enjoying a Pims yesturday enjoying the sunshine.

Ian Woan has made a statement that they are saddened to leave as Burnley is ‘ a special club, with extraordinary fans’ (also yesturday) but you have to wonder if SD may have manoeuvred himself (or been manoeuvred) out of the job. With all the speculation over Garlick getting at least more involved with the club, it does seem to beg the question did he insist that SD be removed before that (whatever it may be) happened?

As has already been said. The silence is deafening and the longer it goes on, the more the rumours will persist. The fans deserve answers. It is incredibly strange that not one player has taken to social media, and nobody in the SD IW BM and SS camp has said anything either, even just a message to the fans.
