Re: Charlie Taylor
I see Mariner is the referee. One of his assistants just flagged a Leeds player offside. In his own half.
They really are embarrassing at times.

Don't agree. That was an incorrect decision but they get them right more often than not.Bordeauxclaret wrote:I see Mariner is the referee. One of his assistants just flagged a Leeds player offside. In his own half.

Re: Charlie Taylor
Taylor looks a good prospect we need an upgrade at fullback and he's worth a bid.Marriner is a crap referee .Dirty Leeds up to their usual hacking .Aided and abetted by Marriners dithering.Hopefully the scallies will hammer them in second hald

Re: Charlie Taylor
Just been listening to talksport for once, and they had a bit of a go at Klopp (and other managers tbf), for not playing a full side. I agree!
Do away with Leeds, they're then two games from Wembley, and a trophy. It's not as if they're in Europe.

Re: Charlie Taylor
That was Jimmy Hills argument but his 95% was based on the easy ones. Tight ones would be 70-30 at best.chekhov wrote:Don't agree. That was an incorrect decision but they get them right more often than not.

Re: Charlie Taylor
so what I'm saying is the linesmen usually do a good job on their offside decisions. You may disagree.

Re: Charlie Taylor
As if we couldn't afford him. Bournemouth bought their best player in July for 6 million. Even if he was double that we could easily afford it.

Isn't he out of contract in the summer? Looks decent with a bit of pace and a good cross to boot.

F@ck me when would we ever outbid anyone? It doesn't mean we can't afford them.

Re: Charlie Taylor
well it does really, if west ham technically bid 100 million for him, we can't afford him ! I take your point 100%, just can't see us bidding more than 5-7 million for him which I doubt would be anywhere near enoughWinstonswhite wrote:F@ck me when would we ever outbid anyone? Re: Charlie Taylor
5m-7m is the price range being rumoured. Whether that turns out to be the case is another matter.

Re: Charlie Taylor
"Can't see us bidding" is completely different from "can't afford". Which is why I asked are you taking the p!ss.Vegas Claret wrote:well it does really, if west ham technically bid 100 million for him, we can't afford him ! He's exactly the sort of player we should be going in for. Good young Championship talent from clubs that aren't cash rich like Derby and Brighton for instance!!!!

Re: Charlie Taylor
Yeah very good, but if West Ham or whoever bid 100 million we can't afford it, simple as that
Re: Charlie Taylor
It could depend on the lad himself - if we are still interested, he might see us as a good option for first team football in the top division and little to no relocating.
If I were him, I'd pick Burnley

Re: Charlie Taylor
We can easily afford this guy but that is no longer the question.
The question is, 'Can we persuade him to come to us?' and 'Who is willing to pay more for him?'

Re: Charlie Taylor
The logic at times on here is staggering and stupid.
"shame we can't afford him" when explained we can becomes "not if West Ham bid 100million simple as that"
I can see something that is simple

Re: Charlie Taylor
Correct decision - introduced in June this year and has twice come into play at Burnley this season with Mike Jones and Andre Marriner getting some stick from the crowd.Bordeauxclaret wrote:I see Mariner is the referee. One of his assistants just flagged a Leeds player offside. In his own half.
They really are embarrassing at times.
The Law now states that the indirect free kick for offside can be taken in the player’s own half.
A player CAN NOT be in an offside POSITION in their own half
A player CAN commit an offside OFFENCE in their own half if they go back into their own half from an offside position
Re: Charlie Taylor
The player was not part of the move which led to the ball at the feet of his own team mate. When the teammate looked up, he made his run (from within his own half). He was still in his own half when the ball was sent towards him. Onside.
Re: Charlie Taylor
Whilst cash appears to be a players main priority a stable club with a stable manager who is loyal to players must be attractive. Joining a club where the manager is likely to change and you could be a benchwarmer won't appeal to all footballers.

If we were going to get him, the bid would need to be in January, as I reckon Leeds could be playing in the Premier League next season, unfortunately.

Not sure why this notification only just came through but it certainly wasn't a correct decision.ClaretTony wrote:Correct decision - introduced in June this year and has twice come into play at Burnley this season with Mike Jones and Andre Marriner getting some stick from the crowd.
