Worst Reffed NFL Play-off Game Ever

Post by ontario claret » Mon Jan 09, 2017 8:22 pm

Seahawks vs. Lions. Where did they get these guys? Supposed to be an all-star crew, but they couldn't even get the illegal block-in-the-back on the first Detroit punt right. The first time a punting team has EVER been penalized for an illegal block. It defies definition. Then, they couldn't decide where tp place the ball. And it's tough being called for pass interference while your helmet is being ripped off by the face mask. Unbelieveable!!!

Not really a Lions fan. I do have a soft spot in my heart for underdogs. Ever since Alex Karras (ex-Lions' lineman), punched that horse in Blazing Saddles, I've liked them more. Also, any pro football team that plays in baby blue has to be liked. (Unlike "Da Bears".)

The crew on the Pittsburgh broadcast yesterday even admitted that the crew in Seattle "Wasn't up to the task." Makes you think that Craig Pawson was involved, somehow.

Bob Bradley. His son plays here in Toronto. Don't think he ever had a real chance in Swansea (just like Michael Laudrup). Why do they go through so many managers there?

The head ref for the Seattle game was a rookie. Too much responsibility, too soon.

I don't know much about Yankee football but don't they have a massive team of refs and replays. Shouldn't that make it a lot harder to make mistakes?

Hopefully they won't get those sort of decisions this coming Saturday.
Rise up Falcons.

They do use instant replay and it works incredibly well. But there are still some subjective calls plus the refs can't see everything.

An English Falcon fan! That rarest of all creatures that walk this earth. Almost as rare as a Canadian Claret die-hard.

In the middle of play, NBC cut away to replay that one-handed catch, just to point out that he had a fistful of the defender's facemask as he made the catch. Should have been off-setting penalties, and would have changed the game completely.

In the CFL teams are allowed to challenge penalty calls, but not in the NFL.

Actually, Falcons have a chance to make the Super Bowl. The only time that happened before, one of their best players was caught with a prostitute the night before the game. Needless to say, they lost.
