Schlupp and other transfers

Schlupp leaving LCFC for 12 mil. Good value for a pacey talented 24 yr old in an inflated January market.

Also says Lansbury for 3 mil to Villa. Bargain for a player of his potential.

I hear WHU are offering about 5 mil for Snodgrass. Hull are doomed if he goes. But another bargain if they get him at that price.

I think all will eventually take higher wages than we can afford though. Pity. Those 3 would have made an almost perfect transfer window, and set us up brilliantly for next season

Has the Lansbury deal actually happened?
The Forest takeover has been delayed, with no due date confirmed, so if it hasn't happened yet, I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't.

I like Schlupp and think he would have been a good addition for his versatility, but £12m for a guy who has pace and not much else just shows how mad the market is these days. Norwich want more than that for Brady I think. Bizarre to think when we signed Boyd it was £3m and a joint club-record. Schlupp and Brady are better than Boyd - but four times better? Prices are insane these days.

And folk thought Hendrick was overpriced at £10m before he kicked on.

Hasn't Montanier been sacked this morning?

Prices aren't directly proportional to quality. The better the player, the higher the price hike for that little bit extra. And I'd say prices are double what they were when we bought Boyd.

I don't think the HL signing has been confirmed, just says it is expected.

If we could get Schulpp, Snodgrass and yes, even Lansbury for
20-25m for the three of them then I'd be more than well pleased and looking forward
to another season at the top level.

Sadly, the likelihood of that happening is probably closer to zero than
I can imagine. We couldn't afford the wages of the first two.

What fee would we get in today's market for a fit Charlie Austin, whose contract was expiring?

We don't need to spend £25m to stay up this season and spending it wouldn't guarantee anything either.

Schlupp is crap, offers nothing but pace. I'm Not sure how they have got £12M for him.

I'd be mortified if we spent 25 mill on those 3

Of course it doesn't guarantee anything, but with the position we are in, it is worth looking ahead to next season. We might not need to spend £25mil to stay up, but we might need to spend a good chunk to progress. I'm not saying we should count our chickens and assume we will stay up, but I also don't see the point in not getting improvements in if we can.

I'd say £15m-£20m or thereabouts

West Ham will outbid everyone at moment as they are desperate. Billic has said today that Payet does not want to play for them.

We missed a great opportunity away at West Ham as they looked bang average - we played very poorly and so did they. Hull then played them off the park and hammers scabbed another 1-0 win.

West Ham are defo in the relegation battle - losing Payet but buying Hogan, Snodgrass and a couple of others should strengthen them enough as Payet has been poor.
