John Jacobs dead
Just seen on telly that John Jacobs, arguably The Godfather of Golf, has died. Great golf man from my days as a junior golfer and beyond. RIP.

Re: John Jacobs dead
"arguably the Godfather of Golf"
Very arguably.
I suppose it depends on your definition of "Godfather" but I'd bet you could ask 100 folk in the street if they'd heard of Jacobs and you'd be lucky if you found one.
I met him a couple of times but there's a good 20 names (at least) I'd put before his when it comes to "Godfathers" of the game.
Like I say, depends on your definition.
