Better chance in the window now

Post by Longsider » Sat Jan 14, 2017 6:42 pm

Today's results must surely give us a better chance of landing key transfer deals. The lad at Leeds must get thinking we are a good bet for him getting top flight football next year as well. Brady too must be looking at us more over Palace. Really hope so anyway.

If you mean Charlie Taylor, I can't see us landing him. Leeds will know they have a real chance of automatic promotion so even if he stayed at Leeds, he'll get Premier League football next season. Selling him wouldn't make sense even if he did leave for nothing when his contract has run out.

Agree, our position certainly can't hurt our chances.

We can buy Taylor in the summer when Leeds fail to get promoted!

Mistake to overachieve.

Don't want to be a killjoy as we're in a fantastic position but very much doubt we'll move away from our budget and targets already set this window.

It does however significantly increase our pulling power as stated.

What we can do is realistically plan for taking our transfer dealings to another level in the summer. Clearly not job done just yet but it would take something pretty grim for us not to be a Premier League club next year.

Great times to be a Claret.

The worst they'll do is the playoffs, but I fancy them to nick 2nd spot in place of Brighton.

Nobody will be buying him this Summer....his contract will have finished so he will be Free. So he'll go to whoever offers the highest wage and signing on fee.....

I disagree -the time has never been better to take one or two players right now. Personally would go for a winger and a proven striker. We have the money and this would surely secure our position. Our position in the PL is a real plus for someone joining.

Leave it to Summer and we will not only be competing with all three that came up, as they will invariably be in for similar players, plus we will be competing with clubs that just failed to go up (the Derbys, Villas of this world) who will be trying to buy promotion for next season.

He turned 23 last Sept. Does that mean Weeds can claim training compo? Like we did with Danny Ings.

Why do we need to worry about buying anyone? If we continue to perform as we have done up until now (ie if we don't even improve!), we'll finish in the top half of the toughest football league in the world. We should believe in our existing players, expect that they will continue to get better and that their confidence will continue to strengthen. We can manage perfectly well with this team-spirited group of players who have already done us proud. It would be an insult to bring in some outsider over anyone's head.

"Why do we need to worry about buying anyone?"

Injuries? Suspensions?
General depth of squad so we have more options. Course we need more bodies.

Agree now is the best time we'll have to attract players. Forget this we don't need anyone nonsense every window we should be looking to strengthen our squad for the long term.

Robbie Brady not in Norwich starting XI or on the bench today - potential transfer somewhere on the offing maybe ?

Taylor has a better chance of playing in the PL next season by joining us now than staying with Leeds, undoubtedly.

Serving a 3 match ban following a red card on New Years Eve according to the Norwich press.
