George Boyds contract
The Blackburn telegraph are reporting that Boyds contract runs out in the summer and the club have not yet discussed an extension.
I find this very odd. Regardless if the fans love him or not Dyche appears to find him very dependable.
I Wk see if it's a coincidence that his performances have improved over the last few games.
Sign him on

Re: George Boyds contract
I thought that this was because Boyd himself had said he wasn't interested in a contract extension at this point and was looking for one last payday (I.e. Signing on fee) somewhere else.
You never know; seeing that we're likely to stay up he may change his mind. Or if not then we should hopefully have Robbie Brady as a replacement....

He actually said this?BurnleyPaul wrote:I thought that this was because Boyd himself had said he wasn't interested in a contract extension at this point and was looking for one last payday (I.e. Signing on fee) somewhere else.

I think right now is the time to reward some of the players with new contracts, if Gray/Keane aren't going to sign now, they probably never will. This is our best shot at keeping them while everything is going well.

I'm sure Boyd would like to play somewhere where his true potential can be realised rather than as a diligent workhorse.

Yes ABC in the interview you can almost sense the misery he's suffered in his time at Burnley.

Is he the next Messi?ablueclaret wrote:I'm sure Boyd would like to play somewhere where his true potential can be realised rather than as a diligent workhorse.

Gorge Boyd likes everything running for as long as possible, that's why he's running his contract down and his water bill is massive!

Like a few other fans on here, I live next to George Boyd. He told me that he's looking at becoming a provider of salon-quality hair. Whether that means he's going to work in a hair salon or as a salesman of Tresemme, I just don't know.

Re: George Boyds contract
I would say at this level we definitely need better than George, the team has to find someone who can deliver a cross. That said his work rate is faultless, and I'm sure he can continue to do a job for us, especially closing out games, from the bench.

Re: George Boyds contract
Boyd will be nearing 32 at the start of next season, I would think the more likely situation is that the club will see what division we are in and decide if they feel they could do better.
The other point is, what length of contract do you offer someone pushing 32? The club may only want to give Boyd another year, the player might well be getting offers (bearing in mind other clubs were able to speak to him from January 1st) of two or even three year deals from Championshio clubs.
I think Boyd will leave as I believe we will stay up and the club will look at him as one of the players we can upgrade and with a younger model. That is nothing against him as he has been and continues to be a massive part of our success, it's really just a case of progress.

Re: George Boyds contract
I expect he will be offered a contract and will start in the team whatever division we are in. However, yes, I would sincerely hope we are considering scouting a younger replacement(s), really need to add some youth to the squad this summer - it's the next step.
