PA Announcements
Another positive from last night, our Normal Collier impersonator wasn't roaming around distributing misinformation. The guy in the office always sounds more professional to me and for the first time in ages was good to hear us welcome the opposing team and their fans.
Re: PA Announcements
Ballsed up Sunderland's substitution, stating the wrong player had gone off.
Really, really simple stuff that they keep getting wrong.
Also, at the end of the game, we were wished a "very, very safe journey home", which is just weird. No one wishes someone a very, very safe journey.

Blimey! Is this the 'everything in the claret garden is rosy but whingers gotta whinge' thread?

Throw it up into the air as high as you can which will cool it down and give you pie in the sky scenario

Re: PA Announcements
But on the other hand they did play some Teardrop Explodes at half time which I thought was a great blast from the past.

Re: PA Announcements
I think the deliberately unfriendly welcome that the usual PA announcer gives to the opposition team is unnecessarily rude and small-time.

Re: PA Announcements
Definitely - he might as well announce us (and it's not Burnley Football Club" walking on to the field) and then say "fuckin hell - them lot are here as well".
Re: PA Announcements
Announcing the team onto the pitch as Burnley Football Club, used to make me increasingly twitch, game after game - then he stopped doing it and has now restarted. It's a trivial thing but like fingers down a blackboard it's awful

His confusion after promotion again Wigan was slightly bizarre.

Re: PA Announcements
That was the point I was trying to make I guess. It shows nothing but class to welcome the opposition.ClaretTony wrote:It's downright ignorant
Re: PA Announcements
Thought the announcer at the Etihad was the same. Couldn't have been less interested announcing the Burnley team before the match and at half time only welcomed City onto the pitch. Agree it's rude but not necessarily small time.

Re: PA Announcements
I'm glad he shouts out "LETS HERE IT FOR BURNLEY"
How else will I know when to cheer when the players enter the pitch?

Re: PA Announcements
Was just about to mention that Wilks. Remember the last home game against Ipswich in 2014, the guy must've asked me to give it up about 10 times in the space of 15 minutes during the lap of honour. Cringe city. M People didn't help either..
Best announcer I ever heard was against Liverpool at Anfield in the 90's, none of this 'scream if you wanna go faster' crap, just a cool, calm voice with gravitas..."Welcome to Anfield, Welcome Burnley and Liverpool" just as the first strains of YNWA played. Made the geese bump and gave me a memory I'll never forget. It's all about presentation.

There's been a terrible crackling fault with the system of late.

Was about to mention that, sort of makes you jump a bit and feels like someone flicking your ear with with an elastic band.jdrobbo wrote:There's been a terrible crackling fault with the system of late.
