Anyone seen this? Just watched it for the first time. A pretty intense, graphic and shocking film but powerful at the same time. Surprised I hadn't seen it before now.
For those who havent its a bit like Trainspotting meets Fear And Loathing in Las vegas with maybe even a bit of Deerhunter thrown in.
I need something easy watching or listening after that

Bit would still give it a 7.5!

I watched Hacksaw Ridge last night and was shocked by how over-the-top it was. Quite possibly the cheesiest film ever made and with very limited actors. Bizarre considering the rave reviews it got. Vince Vaughan brings his True Detective game to the role of drill sargeant with unintentionally funny results.

It's pretty damn intense, isn't it. (RFAD). It's bleak and I still don't even know if I enjoyed it, but I know it's a good film because few films are as engaging. It induces whatever you call the polar opposite of the catharsis you feels when the credits roll on films like Her and Lost in Translation.
Edit-in fact, if you haven't already, watch those two.
Another edit-Lars von Trier's Melancholia feels quite similar in how it'll make you feel totally depressed by the end.

I quite like bleak films and Requiem is definitely that, an excellent film.
In a similar vein I highly recommend Dead Man's Shoes by Shane Meadows with Paddy Considine in the lead role. Brilliant.

Can anyone please help me with a film in which a former Japanese prisoner of war
manages to trace his main torturer a few years after the war has ended, and turns the tables
on him.
Have heard that it is a very good, poignant film.
Many thanks in advance.

Far more intense than i anticipated. And feel exactly how you say i did enjoy it. But in a weird way. I wanted it to finish but wanted it to run for ages at the same time. If anyone was considering drugs watch this.

Have you got la la land in cinemas yet? Remarkable film, and anyone with an ounce of soul in them should enjoy it. Not for those preferring superhero franchises though

Requiem and dead mans shoes both brilliant.
Try Bad Boy Bubby - Australian film - certainly up there for twisted but with eerily upbeat ending.
More recently I, Daniel Blake, was bleak in a more gritty English way, as can be expected from Ken Loach.

Any recommendations for anything a bit less intense to watch tonight. Prefer a cult type of film mind.

If you have never seen it, then "Raising Arizona" or "Heathers"
Both classics

Frank was better than I was expecting. Has indy 'cult' vibes to it. Hell or High Water is quite good. Feels like a discount-No Country for Old Men but still interesting enough a film.
