Doom and Gloom on Wearside

Post by ecc » Fri Jan 20, 2017 3:43 pm

Fair play to Moyes for telling the truth but this won't make for cheerful reading in Sunderland.

'Sunderland manager David Moyes says any new signings will struggle to make a significant impact on his team's fortunes after admitting his transfer budget is "limited with a big L".'

I feel for Sunderland. Proper supporters (unlike their neighbours from Boro)

That just about kills the possibility of any (even half) decent signings. "Come here if you wish but were doomed anyway with only being able to afford players like you" isn't much of a selling point.

They do have quite a few who are injured that will improve them from our recent encounters. Having said that I reckon they are gonna be short of having an effective team to fight against relegation.

What a welcome for any new signings that they do make! You're not really good enough to make much of a difference.

Doubt Brady would be wanting to go there over us, even for an extra £10,000 a week.

Sunderland have pulled off some great escapes,a lot of respect for the club and their fans but i wouldn't want to see them stay up at our expense .. Apart from that I would like them to stay up ..

I hope Doom and Gloom aren't a pair of super Romanian strikers?

I really don't understand Moyes, why would you at the most critical time of the season i.e. the January transfer window tell every agent with an unhappy player that Sunderland is all but doomed to relegation? Keeping the players as a group to fight for every point and even if you don't believe it surely you have to use that language? Also Hull cashing in on Livermore is just bonkers, were we like this after Coyle left? I can't remember as I was gobsmacked for a month after he left and have no memory other than hatred for SuBo

It is an absolute disgrace.

42000+ every home game, sell out every league away game and can't buy a player!!

Wouldn't have happened if I was the boss!! :-)

Maybe he wants to get canned. Maybe he can be the "bad guy" for the fans and say there is no money. Maybe he felt he was misled when he took over, (said they would have money to spend when in reality they dont).

Looks like a man desperate to get his excuses in first. Can you imagine SD making a statement like that? More likely "The budget is limited but it is what it is and we'll work with what we've got.

Looks like Sunderland's defeatist attitude comes from the top.

He did at Preston and Everton. Then did the opposite at ManU.
That said, I do kinda like the fella. The club is a mess. A drop, a firesale and a rebuild within structural parameters is the next sensible step, starting with the sacking of the bubble head who suggested buying the most inept defenders I have seen since Hereford put 6 past Burnley at Turf Moor around 30 years ago.

That's why it's a bit dodgy allowing someone to buy your club. The initial owners may be ok, it's the people who they then sell it on to that tend to wreck it. It is for this reason alone that I hope our club never sells out.

At least the reduced-price White`s pies were nice as we walked off the Bee Hole end!
