Transfer Deadline Day

Post by Crewe claret » Fri Jan 27, 2017 8:35 am

Could be an interesting night with a full fixture list of games as well as the mad rush to sign players

If we sign Brady and and no one else, then considering what we've got that would be pretty good in my eyes.

Yes I'd like another target man type striker and a better full back ( Lowton is improving however ) but for me a wide player/ winger is/ was a necessity.

We should however be ploughing resources and man hours into scouting more favourable markets for the summer.

Don't agree a Barton ban and we will be in exactly the same shape as two years ago with two fit central midfielders (one of who rarely completes a full game) and playing players out of position to cover.

Brady followed by centre mid, another winger and a back up striker is what we need imo.

We are in a much better position than 2 years ago. When Marney got injured our main centre mid was non other than Jones. Hendrick and especially defour are light years ahead of What we had last time. I don't believe Barton will be out for too long and Tarks has shown to be more than capable of anchoring the midfield. Might work out well if it allows Hendrick and/or Defour more freedom.

Brady + central midfielder would be fine I think. If we don't sign anybody then I do think it'll be the difference between us staying up and going down... again.

What we need: A wide midfielder and a central midfielder

What I want: A wide midfielder, a central midfielder and a striker

What we'll get:

What about O'Neill? I thought he looked ok in his couple of cameos. Or is he on loan? Wouldn't be against him getting a bit of game time especially as a fourth choice. Personally I'm looking up the table rather than down, I'm that confident!

You seem to imply that David Jones was a liability. Incredible if that's your view on him.

The Marney injury and the Barton situation does mean that another CM is a must, especially as we have great success with three in the middle this year.

Anyone hear Andrea Pirlo might be signing? I can't see any threads about this.

Difference in Tarkowski coming on with ten minutes to go to him having a regular run of full games in the centre of midfield. We need more cover in there for further injuries or suspensions.

So just to ensure I have the prevailing wisdom right folks would have Tarks in a center midfield two over Arfield for 90 minutes?

Fair point, can see where your coming from. Tarks has at least looked more than capable playing in midfield in those minutes though, better than Arfield imho.

I would love more players but feel with Brady only we'd still be in a good position.
