Great ticket pricing has worked..

Post by MACCA » Sat Jan 28, 2017 9:07 am

Spoken to 2 separate families last night who do not attend the games regularly, they are using this game to give it a try.

Both have young children who haven't been on before so are using it to see if they like it.
Purely going as the price is affordable for the them.

That's 9 extra attending today who normally wouldn't , does anyone else know other fans going on today who normally wouldn't or are going for the first time.

Well done BFC, I hope they take this approach for every cup game every season.

Unfortunately the decision wouldn't be down to just Burnley. The away club has to agree the prices and the competition rules state that £10 is the minimum adult charge.

Not quite the same thing but our lot are all going together for this match, due to costs we alternate who takes the kids on.Prices for this match means we can all go on together :-)

Is that both cups or just the FA cup Leisure?

I think it will only help get the next generation hooked, and what better time than now to turn those potential Man Utd, Man C, Chelsea, Liverpool etc plastics into excited little Burnley fans.

The fuller the Turf, the better the atmosphere and if the games are against decent opposition it will only accelerate it.

I think that has changed this season with the home team not requiring agreement of the away team. Pretty sure Utd charged Reading a fortune for tickets which was subsidised by Reading because they didn't agree with the price.

You are correct. Whilst both teams have to agree in the qualifying rounds after that it's at the discretion of the home club but the £10 minimum still applies.

Let's hope we don't get drawn away to Utd in the next round! :D :D :D

Policy has changed on ticketing in the FA Cup - now a home club decision.

Was it £45 they charged Reading in the 3rd round?

It was but Reading then subsidised the cost.

One of my mates and his two lads are going on today due to the low ticket prices. They are Liverpool fans foremost, Barlick Town (locally - but BT's game is off today) so he thought he'd take his lads to the Turf. No way would he have done that if the prices were £30/£40.

Go before instead!

Does anyone know a pub with a pool table and relatively child friendly?

Used to go sidewalk for an hour as beer was cheap, sports on TV and free pool.

However as soon as the Mix took over the beer went up £1 ( minimum dependant on choice ), sky sports had been removed and they charged for pool. It was understandably very quiet.

Well, you have to pay for the privilege of attending the 'Theatre of Dreams', surely?

Well done the Reading Board.

Another one here taking child on for their first game. Been badgering me for a few months, but with it being £5 for kids I thought I'd give it a try. Also just been down and bought an away shirt (£16) and Childs scarf (£10), plus I've been told in no uncertain terms that a hot dog, drink and chocolate is required in the ground, so BFC will be getting around £36 for that £5 price.

Then there's my ticket and refreshments (at least another £15) so £51 for that pricing decision. Oh, also taking a mate on who doesn't attend normally so that's more like £66 just because they're charging £5 for kids tickets.

Come to think of it, the snidy beggars have had me shelling out a fortune!!! :o

Yes I'm a parent, You don't need to get p1ss ed before the game , there's such a thing as a couple.

And I'm not driving either so a good half a dozen beers, few games of pool and a Burnley victory is quite the day bonding with the boy, before home and more beers with the wife possibly including some food and who knows..

Like you say if carlsberg did Saturdays. ..

Brilliant to see the joyful face on a little lad coming off today.
'First game'? I asked his Dad
'Yup, the new mascot' he replied

Well done to the Club.

He looked so happy

And so did the lad :D

I was going to put something like that on the pre game rituals thread.

I don't have any rituals, but like you say once of a day a gallon and a bit was needed just so that you couldn't see what was happening on the pitch properly.

If we are making £40 million profit then not only should tickets be cheaper for the fans but also the prices at the food outlets and match programmes should be vastly reduced. Pies at £3 each, bovril at £2, etc. are ridiculous prices. And why on earth are the food outlets not open after games ? I often watch SC Freiburg in Germany. Not only can you take beer etc. to your seats but the food outlets are open for up to TWO hours AFTER the game !!

Greta in principle and totally feasible too while we are in the PL

But if we went down and all those prices shot back up nobody would pay... It's a really tough balance.
