Climbing to gain height advantage
Saw an incident on Saturday where a player (no names) used his own player as leverage to gain extra height for a header.
Within the rules?

Re: Climbing to gain height advantage
Providing none of the players involved are either less than 5ft3 or more than 6ft1tall then this is allowed and within the rules
Re: Climbing to gain height advantage

Unsporting behaviour I'm led to beleive ( if done on purpose )

Re: Climbing to gain height advantage
Reference to US soccer but I'm sure our refs are given similar guidelines
Although this is not explicitly mentioned in the Laws of the Game, it is known to be unsporting behaviour through tradition.
Each year the United States Soccer Federation releases an Advice To Referees document. This documents fills in the gaps of "tradition" vs what is actually codified in the FIFA Laws of the Game. In the 2014 edition, on pages 50-51:
Referees are urged to review the list of examples of unsporting behavior to be found in the Interpretation of the Laws of the Game and Guidelines for Referees as well as in U.S. Soccer training materials for newer referees. Other examples include:
...
Uses an artificial aid to unfairly assist play – for example, leaning on the shoulders of a teammate to increase height, using an article of clothing to avoid direct contact with the ball, removing the corner flag on a corner kick, hanging on the crossbar.

Re: Climbing to gain height advantage
Not recommended to use referee as climbing aid!
...unless against Arsenal then ref wouldn't notice!

Re: Climbing to gain height advantage
Unsporting as in post3.
As is lifting a teammate in a wall.
Goalies pulling the crossbar down.
FBs using the net to jump at corners.
Unless the ref or Wenger doesn't see it

We are led to believe, doesn't mean the rule will be implemented.conyoviejo wrote:You added" so I'm lead to believe" ..
Nobody actually knows if it would get pulled up should it happen.
We are led to believe that if a player is beyond the last defender when the ball has been played it will be flagged for offside, doesn't always happen though...

Re: Climbing to gain height advantage
On the assumption that a free kick would be awarded, if a player did it defending a corner then a penalty kick would be awarded.

Re: Climbing to gain height advantage
I'm pretty sure I saw something like this being flagged as a foul in a recent game. Not sure of the rules myself though.
