Andre Gray not good enough?
Andre Gray not good enough?
No first touch , can't hold the ball up, not a premier league player , just some of the comments on a previous thread .
Thought he was absolutely outstanding tonight, any doubters now ?

Agreed, top quality when given a bit of service, if only we could take that level of performance away from home.

Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
He was superb, Morgan really struggled with Gray's strength today. He did so well backing in to the big man.

Both were a thorn in their sides all night. Roll on next game ...

Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
His only weakness tonight was shooting when he should've cut it back. Can't blame for him for taking the shoots tho!
Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
I've never ever criticised Gray, if you actually look I was the one arguing for him and not against. I even got banned for arguing with a certain poster who was slagging Grayjoey13 wrote:What you think of his first touch ?

He's still got work to do but all the signs are there. Great game for him today, unlucky not to score but he can learn to make his own luck.

Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
Where's Mohammed now? In the first 20 mins there were 2 occasions where his first touch was sublime. Outstanding tonight and if not for that animal Huth headlocking him he would have been free on goal
Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
He caused Huth and Morgan problems all night with his pace and power. His link up play and general movement was a LOT better tonight too. Deserved a goal.

Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
Both forwards were immense, without scoring. I think the most attempts we've had in a game at 24, but only 3 on target - so there are aspects we need to improve on. We were all over them like a rash, but that ratio of attempts/on-target needs to improve

Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
Couldn't go tonight but interesting to hear about gray coz Huth had him in his pocket in the away fixture. Just shows how the club and the players individually are growing into this league.
Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
At the start of this season before he got benched, he wasn't good enough. Neither was Hendrick.
But Dyche has done his work on both and they were brilliant tonight - and get better every time I watch them.

Did great against Morgan/Huth
Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
One of his best games in a Claret shirt IMO.

Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
I was coming on this thread to give you a mouthful, glad I did not need to, Gray is a lot better player since he has come back into the squad, Grown up a bit?

I've been serving a long string of bans.Cleveleys_claret wrote:Where's Mohammed now? In the first 20 mins there were 2 occasions where his first touch was sublime. Outstanding tonight and if not for that animal Huth headlocking him he would have been free on goal
He was absolutely excellent tonight. Great day to be a claret!
Heaton a bit dodgy, however.

Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
Think the boost for Gray has been that ban weirdly enough - he looked to have hit the gym and build strength for a while and has now found that happy medium of pace and power.
Defenders truly look terrified of him. When he was harrassing them and running at them the way it was no nonsense and straight out showed they didnt want a battle with him - same against Sunderland wherw within first 10 mins he'd out powered one CB and out paced the other.....they sh*t it after that.

Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
Excellent tonight. I'm sure it's been discussed but now would be a great time to try and get him tied down for another couple of years.
Should think he's happy to see what's about in the summer though.

Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
Typical knee jerk. Been relatively average for a while now. Puts a good performance in and all of a sudden he's a world beater???joey13 wrote:No first touch , can't hold the ball up, not a premier league player , just some of the comments on a previous thread .

His performance tonite was great. Played well and the suspect first touch that we all know he has wasn't evident. Let's have ten good games like tonite and you may have a point.
So yes. In answer to your question, I am still a doubter. Did he play well tonite? Damn right he did. He was excellent, but it's just one performance. Long may it continue of course, but let's wait til he's improved consistently before declaring him premier league class.
Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
He hasn't got a suspect first touch though

Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
You are right. It's not suspect. It's confirmed shockingly bad for a PL player. Sometimes, (most of the time) passing to gray is like kicking the ball very hard against a trampoline.joey13 wrote:He hasn't got a suspect first touch though
Great game tonite tho.

presumably a trampoline placed unusually on its side.bobinho wrote:You are right. It's not suspect. It's confirmed shockingly bad for a PL player. Sometimes, (most of the time) passing to gray is like kicking the ball very hard against a trampoline.

Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
The thing about Andre is that he has no fear. He ventures where lesser mortals fear to tread.
Re: Andre Gray not good enough?
His first touch is poor at this level IMO
However his pace and eye for goal makes up for it. If he has a bit more quality on the ball he wouldn't be playing for us, he would be playing with one of the top 3.
He still getting better and he will
Always score goals
