Re: Who's the hero?
He really did save that kid from a nasty shock at the very least, looking at how fast the ball was travelling, i actually do think he has stopped something very nasty happening there.
Well done that man

He's probably just prevented the next Ben Mee. I hope the club can ascertain his seat number and issue the appropriate ban.

Why do I have to load 17,146 images before I find the one I want to view? - don't click it's not worth the effort.

Well done that man.
As for the Mum, she has probably (hopefully) learnt a lesson in life experience about exposing the young 'un to danger.
Not the best place to have a child in your arms but everyone is an expert after the event.
Glad the child is okay.

Re: Who's the hero?
Poor lad, dragged onto a cold February terrace before the poor mite can even walk then subject him to having a fired up Barnsey whack a football at him.
They're going to turn that kid into the next David Mitchell.

No it's not. For one thing, they are the club's future and secondly the alternative would have
been for the mother to stay at home, one less bum on a seat.
I agree that it's a bit irresponsible to sit/stand near the front row behind the goals with
a babe in arms.
Here's to all future clarets, keep 'em coming.

Re: Who's the hero?
yes it is odd, its one thing to take along a youngster who wants to go, quite another to subject a child who clearly has no concept of the proceedings to sit through 2 hours in winter weather. that isnt fun. even older kids often disiinterested sat with their phones never once looking at the game. It would put them off for life. They have no choice, thats the difference.Funkydrummer wrote:"it is odd why folk choose to take tiny kids on the games."

Re: Who's the hero?
Ah yes. Let's not take kids on the Turf. Leave them at home to watch, arsenal utd chelsea spurs on telly each week. Then wonder why there's only 3,000 on the turf in 15/20 years.

Re: Who's the hero?
You've basically said the child was dragged to the game against his will though. How could you possibly know that??
Maybe that was the first time he took his eyes off the game. Maybe he saw it coming and thought Ill show these southern softers what were made of.

Re: Who's the hero?
I have a better idea.
Move the kid behind the nets and tell Barnes to
"aim for the kid".

Re: Who's the hero?
The kids mother might have only been able to go with the kid.
My first game I was 2. Didnt do me any harm, even if I did hate terracing at that age

Unfair would be putting him in a Rovers/United shirt.
Taking him yesterday was like a baptism.

Re: Who's the hero?
As a young lad I used to sit on the wall of the paddock in from of the old Brunshaw Rd stand. One day I got smacked in the head from a miskick by Alex Elder. All I got was a hair tussle from him and blokes around telling me to remember to duck next time. Was a hero at Mary Mags on the Monday though!
Re: Who's the hero?
It looked like it would've missed the child completely, better to be safe than sorry thoughSmallpaul wrote:He really did save that kid from a nasty shock at the very least, looking at how fast the ball was travelling, i actually do think he has stopped something very nasty happening there.

Fairly sure he didn't know what was going on. Should have just given him some chippings.
