How eventful was your journey to work this morning?

Post by Sidney1st » Tue Feb 14, 2017 8:55 am

Every morning I cycle to work and every morning I see an Impreza come caning round a corner, building up his speed for a long straight bit of road.
I'll admit I've done the same in my Golf on the same corner.

At 7am this morning however, the driver lost control on the bend, mounted the kerb and smacked into a tree.
I heard him lose control and turned around to watch it happen.

He's ok, I rang the emergency services and waited with him as I was the only one around, but if I'd been 30 secs or so slower then he would've been very close to hitting me/killing me.
Someone else did see it happen, but they decided to turn their car around and drive off, clearly going to work was more important to them.

When he lost control of it I was a bit further up by the lorries thankfully.

(The driver is ok, he got out of the car and has been tended to by the ambulance service)

I hope you all stay safe, I'm currently sat here thinking about how lucky I was....

Bloody hell, glad you're ok. Sobering reminder of those who drive that an accident can happen at any moment.

For the record, my journey was quiet and uneventful. Half term week is bliss for my commute.

Bloody hell, talk about a close call. I've worked out over the years that all Impreza drivers are knobs (they all drive like arseholes even in built up areas, and the cars looks sh*t anyway - you'd think only a 17 year old would be impressed by them???), so hopefully the lucky escape this chap had might make him get a normal car and drive more carefully, before he kills either himself or someone else.

But regarding my journey, I got to my home office and then remembered the brew I'd just made was left downstairs. A real ball ache having to go back down for it! :D

Hope the motorway is kind in a couple of hours though.

Glad you're okay, Sid.

He was a similar age to me, so mid to late 30's.

I don't think he's going to learn now.

3 mile boat trip on a fair bit of swell left over from weekend gales.

Lumpy ride as I hawked up big globs of snot and phlegm ..a residue of a recent cold..and gobbed them over the side.

I used to have a Subaru Impreza - the model year newer than the one on the pic (ugly frog eyed one). It was a good car and more sensible and tamed down than the earlier versions. However I got rid after about a year - if you have a Subaru everybody else with one flashes and waves at you - even the spotty baseball capped urchins - it used to get right on my tits. I swapped it for an Elise and found out they did the same.......

My commute from York to Shipley was notably easier due to the half term - however there was an articulated lorry grounded on a small grass bank and wall on Otley road which was causing major bedlam for traffic coming the opposite way.

Sat on the m60 en route to Nottingham for the best (worse) part of 2 hours without moving an inch. No point getting stressed at these things though as the cause is often far worse than the jam itself. Hope nobody was seriously injured or worse.

Expected a leisurely drive today too eith schools off.

What with giant boulders falling on me, trains emerging from false painted tunnels and loose tips of cliffs giving way under my paws, always hazardous journey for me.

Good Samaratin but you should have given him a sly dig and told him he has been making you nervous for a long time then squeezed him a bit to ensure he got the message.
Then a bit of tlc ;)
