Blackburn Lose Hope

Post by Rowls » Thu Feb 16, 2017 1:39 pm

Apkan and Elliott Bennett to suspension for their upcoming cup tie against Man Utd.

Just scrolled across Sky Sports News and made me titter.

3 matches for Akpan for pushing the referee and 2 matches for Bennett for using foul and abusive language towards the referee after the final whistle. Is that what they call going toe to toe?

Shame, a home win would be better for us.

Meanwhile Clattenburg is complaining refs don't get enough support.

I think a measly 3 match ban possibly shows he's right.

Wenger got 4 !!! Thought that was lenient.
You simply can not lay your hands on a match official at all

You need a zero tolerance on stuff like this, more for the sake of park refs up and down the country.

Having said that, if it was a player acting like the ref did he'd have got booked for simulation.

Akpan has got the three match ban for the red card but he, and his club, now face further action from the FA who have just released the following.

Blackburn Rovers have been charged by The FA following their game at Sheffield Wednesday on 14 February 2017.

It is alleged that in or around the 87th minute, the club failed to ensure that its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.

In addition, Rovers player Hope Akpan has been charged in relation to his 87th minute dismissal during this match.

It is alleged that his behaviour constituted violent conduct in circumstances where the standard punishment that would otherwise apply is clearly insufficient.

The club and player have until 6pm on Tuesday 21 February 2017 and 6pm on Monday 20 February 2017 respectively to respond to their charge.

Hopefully they've had to postpone Joey's hearing to squeeze this one in !!

In instances like this you should be forced to give the current manager a 10 year contract.

Sounds like he'll get another three or four games, then, on top of the basic three.

At least.

It was against Blackpool when Waddle had brought him in on loan. Referee was Kevin Lynch and he did put his hand on him although there was no push.
