Dyche
Dyche
Tactically inept today. He won't have raised his stock value. Even with the squad available we should be able to control a football and have composure. Instead we try and out hoofball a non league team and fail at that.

Re: Dyche
It's not just how we started, but how he didn't know what to do to improve things. He looked a bit lost. At half time, I thought Ward on for Fanny, and was amazed that didn't happen. Barnes on was a bit later than I expected too and possibly for Gray, not Vokes.

Re: Dyche
It WAS an off day all round and that includes SD, but I agree with the op that he has to show a bit more nous in games like this as his tactics were as much to blame as the players. He played into Lincoln's hands and didn't seem willing/able to change it at any stage.

I feel for SD . We have 3 strikers neither of who are cutting edge at PL. Be great to have a match winner on the bench or starting. We have invested heavily in mid field and need to buy a top striker as our next priority in May

Re: Dyche
A top striker would be great, but it's still the supply line that's missing. Unfortunately due to injuries suspension and cup tied we had none of Defour, Hendrick. Brady or JBG. There's still bugger all reason to panic.

Dyche didnt ask Grey to miss, he didnt ask sam to mis-time every jump he didnt ask Scott to be abysmal, ok subs not great but after the Accy defeat we realised we need to invest, see what happens in the summer. UTC.

Haven't seen it mentioned but he had Ward ready to come on with 30 seconds left of added time before telling him to sit back down again. I mean........what was all that about?

Bit of perspective. Lincoln beat Brighton - Brighton won today. Do you think the Brighton management give a toss about the FA Cup now - nah !!

Re: Dyche
Wet wipes ok. The safety of a keyboard eh. We started off playing on the deck and it looked as though it would work. After JBG ( who looked creative) went off we seemed to resort to long ball. We persist with it when it's not working. Barnes should have been on sooner as Vokes was winning nothing and Ward should have been on for Flanagan at HT.
Re: Dyche
Not a case of panic but if i could see after 10mins that the long ball up in the air to Vokes was getting nowhere why did we not play it on the deck and down the channels. Only once did Derek get round the back with a peach to Andre who scuffed his shot.
But well done to Lincoln and their backroom staff who out Dyched SD and his backroom staff.

Re: Dyche
He did ask a right footed player to play at left back instead of Ward, even though Stevie Wonder riding Black Beauty could tell you from previous displays not to.bfcjg wrote:Dyche didnt ask Grey to miss, he didnt ask sam to mis-time every jump he didnt ask Scott to be abysmal, ok subs not great but after the Accy defeat we realised we need to invest, see what happens in the summer. And Saxo, if some Clarets fans are feeling a bit low then we can console ourselves by the fact that your shower will soon be playing Lincoln City on a very regular basis !!

Re: Dyche
SD's the best thing we've had at TM since the hey days but I find his post match comments quite baffling. He said something to the effect that the players couldn't handle the pressure of being favourites. To put it in context, where talking about professional footballers earning a fortune, 81 places above against a non league team. Good luck and congratulations to Lincoln. Half our team wouldn't get into the Imps side on todays showing.

Aye Blackrod the safety of a key board. Why don't you go down to Gawthorpe on Monday and say what you think to the gaffer ?

Re: Dyche
Dyches comments were carefully designed to distract from the horror show. It's not that we hung on or anything we just couldn't impose our will on the game or open them up. No alternative plan is purely down to Dyche and something HE needs to work on.
It's not a new thing however.
that today reminded me of the Luiz Ortiz vs Malik Scott bout. Similar feel about it.

Re: Dyche
Dyche was out-Dyched today. I don't know if the Lincoln manager is some sort of Dyche-disciple or has just read the same coaching manuals, but his pre-match interview today was pure Dyche - frameworks, intensity, handing players responsibility - the lot. Pat Nevin also commented that watching the teams warm-up was like someone had put a mirror on the half-way line- Lincoln's drills were exctly the same as ours.
That basically meant they were always going to play us like we play every week in the PL, and in trying to play the same way we allowed ourselves to be drawn into a battle. We should have shown a bit more tactical flexibility and got the ball down and played, because we have better players than them. Being drawn into a battle really just levelled the playing field.

This "non-league manager" who beat us today is going on to bigger and better things. MUCH bigger and better things. All he does is win wherever he goes. What's his name again?

Re: Dyche
Admittedly, he had his hands tied a bit by the forced change after 20 minutes, but I thought we lacked dynamism and forward drive in the centre of midfield and balance on the left. The changes to address that were to move Arfield centrally and bring Barnes on out wide, and bring Ward on for the appalling Flanagan.

Absolutely correct. We need a striker. Should have gone for Rhodes.warksclaret wrote:I feel for SD . We have 3 strikers neither of who are cutting edge at PL. 3 new strikers if we stay up.
Trouble is good ones cost an absolute fortune and not within our budget, either in terms of transfer fees or wages

Re: Dyche
We were beaten at our own game when most of the players thought just showing up was enough.
Much like Leicester last season in microcosm their players all hit their peak at the same time their opponents were at their worst. All 23 people on the pitch were human and capable of so many things including this result.
Disappointing, upsetting, unexpected, humbling etc. Take your time to grieve but then move on to the much bigger picture which will define our season and the potential long term future of the club.

I'd ask the same questions to Dyche if I had the opportunity and he'd probably give me an answer. Wet wipes are obviously something you are familiar with Cooperclaret so you'd best get back to them and your keyboard.

Re: Dyche
Really not surprised, we usually struggle to break down teams when they don't come at us and that's next to nothing in the premier league. Were used to being on the back foot.
To stay in the league and do better next season we have to learn how to win as favourites, not underdogs. It's a very different game when you're expected to win.
Losing you Accrington and Lincoln isn't a coincidence, especially when shuffling round players who aren't really match fit.
We've done it plenty of times to others before. Credit to Lincoln.
