Bad timing
The porky pie-eater from Sutton has done us no favours. His antics have brought sport's gambling issues into sharp focus just at exactly the time that Joe Barton is about to be sentenced.
There is no longer any doubt that he will be made an example of and his playing days this season at Burnley are now severely numbered. The FA are under intense pressure to get their house in order and they will be be prodded into quick, strong action to stamp on illegal betting with a high-profile case.
Hull and Swansea could be his last games.

Re: Bad timing
Banned for life is a bit strong, but certainly has done his reputation no favours. I was championing him (not being able to see his antics at the other end of the pitch) but now I'm very ; to use the modern vernacular..... Meh

I'm not sure that's enough, maybe just one kneecap (his weak leg) would suffice.

Re: Bad timing
I'm thinking a proper angry mob with pitchforks and flaming torches round to where ever Barton is living, drag him out by his girly hair and burn him at the stake. Nothing else would protect our precious reputation as a firm but fair team and we'd get some much needed positive media coverage out of it.

Re: Bad timing
The FA owe us one after the Andre Gray debacle which in my eyes was very harsh...the FA boys should haul Joey in remove his trousers slap his bottom and send him on his way.

Re: Bad timing
If the FA treat JB the way many of the posters on here have done, then he will be lucky to escape with his life.

I think we should sell him at the first opportunity.

Re: Bad timing
I doubt that events at Sutton will have any bearing on Barton's case, nor should they.
Re: Bad timing
A mumber of clubs are sponsored by bookies.
The Sun ,under the banner of Sun Bets have had great publicity from the pie eating incident.
If a few of his family and friends had a few quid on him eating a pie so what.

Re: Bad timing
If all this angst over Joey is over his "stamp" I guess many on here have never played.
They were rattling his cage and he gave some back. Big deal, move on.
As none of us know anything about the "bets" how do so many know what sentence he's going to get?
