Year's ago I got their 'Greatest Hits' or whatever it was called.

- a very under-rated band aren't they?

Fossil Fuels is an interesting one, maybe later. Black Sea looks a good introduction.

Thanks all.

My personal Top 3...

Skylarking
Apple Venus Vol 1
Wasp Star - Apple Venus Vol 2

XTC are one of the most criminally underrated bands the UK has ever produced, mainly down to their refusal to tour due to Andy Partridge's severe stage fright. It's such a shame as he was/is one of our great songwriters.

Try vinylnet. They're pretty good on old punk, new wave & reggae.

Always loved XTC and was lucky enough to see them in the early days. One of the few bands who got better as their career progressed. I would recommend Skylarking and Oranges and Lemons which includes Mayor of Simpleton one of my favourite songs.

Forget the turntable, Zom Zom.

Get it on Spotify Free and you can play it through your telly.

Here's a wild card suggestion-

Check out The Dukes of Stratosphear.

It's the alter ego of the members of XTC. They did a couple of albums I think.

Summat different.

I have a friend who is into The Temples (same kind of sixties psychedelia), and he loved the Dukes.

Waxworks and Beeswax has some good songs you won't find on their albums. Drums and Wires and Black Sea are great albums.

I have Science Friction on a coloured 12-inch vinyl disc - but that's an EP. Weren't they from Swindon?

No one's mentioned 'English Settlement' yet, another good album.
They were indeed from Swindon.

Oranges and Lemons my personal favourite from 1989. Some good tracks and quite a longish album from memory. Well worth a listen.

There's a documentary in production about them at the moment which should be terrific, Colin Moulding has also contributed vocals to great tracks by Days Without Stations (The Man Who Died Two Times-amazing song) and Billy Sherwood

I'm looking forward to the doc.

This Partridge-penned Monkees track from last year's fantastic Good Times album is pure '90s pop XTC.

Well folks, I plumped for Oranges and Lemons after all that

Halfway through what is a double vinyl album. It is unmistakably XTC. Garden of Earthly Delights is odd but an excellent opener.

Thanks all for your opinions. I think a copy of Drums and Wires might be the next stop.
