Just had a look on a Sunderland site....shocking navigation..adverts everywhere..constantly being signposted somewhere that you didn't wish to go...reminds me of the final 'bad old days' over there...

Bet they never thought they would be favourites to win a game this far into the season.

Good read.
As I mentioned to reject, they would have been better off getting relegated 3 years ago. With the debts they have now it could be too late.
I'm sure they'll come back eventually but it could be a long time waiting.

That's a bit bizarre, a club that's fallen into the trap of paying stupid wages for average players is now holding us up as some sort of shining light to follow.

"If Sunderland are relegated this season, then perhaps the priority for the club’s management should be to stabilise club finances rather than to target immediate promotion with a raft of signings in the manner that Mike Ashley has employed to uncertain effect with Newcastle this season."
Newcastle made a net profit on player sales / signings.

Re: sunderland forum
Excellent article, and Sunderland are just one club that would be well advised to follow the Burnley blueprint.
However, for Sunderland it may well be too late. At the latest count their debt levels were approaching £150m and that will take an awful long time to claw back even reverting to the sort of principles applied at Burnley.

To be fair Sid, I think it's the equivalent of our Chris Boden making the observation in the article rather than the club itself. The guy talks a lot of sense and the powers that be at Sunderland should take note.

'Sunderland have some things Burnley can only dream of'....
one of the most devoted fan bases in the Country. Yup, that'd be no different to us then.
