Julie Cooper MP
My first thought when I heard about the terrible terroist attack today at parliament was, let's hope that our local MP is safe and well.

Really?
No offence but the safety of my local MP hadn't entered my head until I read your post just now.
Probably doesn't help that I don't know who it is or what gender they are, but still...

With how much that woman does for our town, she would be a massive loss. A real community champion. What a terrible day for all involved including the terroist and more so his family. For anybody to believe that such actions are juctified suggests mental illness in some form

Re: Julie Cooper MP
I can only assume that sarcasm. The MPs were all very well protected inside, the poor buggers on the bridge and the police immediately outside bore the brunt of the aggression.
MPs need to concern themselves more with the safety of the general public and worry less about the "Human Rights" of people who seem hell bent on hurting society.

Re: Julie Cooper MP
Rather sad that someone should choose to use the tragic and horrific of events of today as an excuse to make a rather unfunny attack on a local MP. It's less than a year since a constituency MP was murdered in cold blood outside her own surgery for goodness sake. Events such as today's really do bring out the best and worst in people.
It might be better to reflect on those families who have lost loved ones.

Likewise with me. I spend the entire day trying to find ways to make jokes about today's events.

I know I probably shouldn't have done, but I thought IT's Hot Fuzz gif on the Westminster thread was pretty funny though.

Part of the OP quote:
'What a terrible day for all involved including the terrorist and more so his family'
This isn't an innocent civilian lashed into a vehicle with baling wire and made to deliver a bomb before being vapourised, a tactic used by the IRA in Londonderry.
This is someone with the capacity to not only drive a decent car but navigate his way through traffic to a specific point in London. He then deliberately mowed down men, women and children before exiting the vehicle armed with knives to kill a Police Officer.
It's not hypmotism.
Fundamentalism. Fanaticism. Terrorism.
Wake up and smell the coffee

Re: Julie Cooper MP
I disagree with him that it's a terrible day for the attacker, the guy probably thought he was dying a martyr, but i see nothing wrong with empathising with his family who are waking up this morning to a terrible truth.

Re: Julie Cooper MP
Tbe only MP that has entered my thoughts since I learnt of the incident is the one who went in the opposite direction to the others and helped to try and save the Police Officer.

True IT, we can only hope that his fanaticism doesn't run in his family and friends as is so often apparent in other cases, Israel for example where these holy jihad martyrdom warriors are regularly held in great esteem by their family, politicians and co-religionists.
Piousness mixed with literal readings easily lead to 'radicalisation' and offensive Jihad (they would call it 'defensive Jihad')....it is taught that the founder of the religion is the 'best example for mankind to follow for all times', unfortunately this founder used and encouraged such tactics in his conquests.
