Correct! According to TalkSport, we are the official long ball merchants of the season, so far.

We don't do long balls, we pass to stretch the defence.

It used to be Karanka, right up until he was sent to the glue factory.

So that's where he went, I hope to Christ they don't use him to glue up my next pair of trainers; he certainly couldn't hold Boro together.

He was a funny chap though......

Karanka suggested Burnley had used 'long balls' to get back into the game, that he was surprised they had done so given the quality of the squad available to Dyche and that he would prefer to 'win in style'.

So when he looked at the stats from Tuesday night he must have been disappointed to see it was actually Boro who had gone direct more often.

According to stats website WhoScored, Burnley played 436 passes to the visitors' 355, but 108 of those Boro passes were classed as 'long balls' compared to 85 from the Clarets. Food for thought.

I noticed when watching England the other day Keane played a long ball to Deli and the commentator called it a great pass

I hope no one is surprised by that stat.

As Stoke 6-8 years ago, we have to do what we must to survive. As long as we adapt when we have the appropriate personnel, then it's all good.

The difference allegedly is the ball over a certain length has to be within 5 yards of the intended player to be classed as a long pass. Otherwise it's a hopeful long ball.

What distance constitutes a long ball? 50 yards?

Exactly boatshed bill! How long does it have to be to be a "long ball". According to some on here if David Yones passed more than 5 yards it should class as a long ball. AND absolutely nothing wrong with it imo IF it works, if it brings goals and IF it keeps us up!
