Yesterday without the football was painful, so at least we now have the England game to look forward to.
I'm going 3-0 England. Keane hatrick
Expected lineup: Hart; Keane, Smalling, Stones; Walker, Dier, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana; Sterling, Alli, Vardy

Not sure Ian - the papers just say Cahill out as he's suspended and Stones comes in.

I thought Smalling was injured too and replaced by Gibson. Oxlade-Chamberlain shouldn't start.

Cheers, don't take any notice of me I'm being a penis.
Fancy 5-0, Defoe is going create a big head ache for Southgate by playing well and scoring at least two goals.

I for one will be interested to see how Stones and Keane do as a central pairing.
Come on England!

I think England have now gone about 34 qualifying games without losing which is a hell of a record.

I liked the look of that back three against Germany I'd have gone with that again, Keane Stones Dier as the three.
Shouldn't matter though who we put out.

When you look into the opponents, it's nothing that will make you grasp the bedsheets with an unbelievable orgasam. We've been bonk since 1996. That's almost 20 years.

That's not true though is it, as we've gone over 30 qualifying games undefeated. Our tournament record on the other hand could quite definitely be described as bonk.

You've completely missed my point. My point was it's all well and good stating stats like that, but we've been crap for 20 years. And - look at our opponents and you'll quite quickly see that it is true - it's very true - our opposition overall has been rubbish.

If you can't give any credit for a side going 30+ qualifying games without defeat then there's little point discussing it with you. The opposition are as 'rubbish' as any that a team would expect to face in qualifying campaigns. To go over 30 games without losing a qualifying game is an excellent record whether you can admit it or not.

But why are we discussing 'qualifying games'? Why not just go off the last X games? Or even better, the last X games after the qualiying rounds? When the overall quality of teams are better than Whitby.
Don't get me wrong - I love watching England and want them to win every game, but let's not fool ourselves by thinking that going 30+ qualifying games is brilliant, when we've played against crap. I don't read anything into that at all - I want us to play better football and be successful. We haven't done much since 1996 and even then, it was mainly down to the fact that we were hosting the thing.

Because this is a qualifying game. Everyone knows that England have been toss in tournament football. I just recently heard the statistic that England have gone 34 qualifying games undefeated, which is a fantastic record regardless of the opposition. I'm not quite sure how you can even dispute it.
I presume Burnley's run of 23 league games undefeated last season was irrelevant because of our cup defeat during that stretch?

That's another of your mistakes - presuming.
And how on God's Green Earth can it be a fantastic record 'regardless of opposition'? That makes no sense whatsoever.
Anyway - debate ended. We'll agree to disagree, if it's all the same to you. I guess you're too easily pleased.

You see, that's where
you're mistaken. I'm not pleased by the last 20+ years of England achievements, far from it. I'm not even pleased with a large number of our performances in qualifying games. But at the same time I'm capable of separating fact from emotion and seeing that a record of 30+ qualifying games without defeat is a fantastic record. I'm surprised anyone can even try and form an argument against that.
Anyway, happy to leave it there.

So you're trying to bring in emotion to back your opinion. Which says everything really.
I'm sick and tired of England being shite - that's the bottom line. Trying to tell me that going X games is something I should be proud of is quite frankly, rubbish. We're crap. We're poor. We don't pass and control a football as well as I would like. Not until recently anyway. I think Southgate might be onto something here and he's looking at things from a different angle to other managers. This is something I'm trying to be optimistic about - which I have always been for the past 20 years.

I'd expect Stones and Cahill to be the first names on his sheet but another good match could see him move above Smalling and Jones. He certainly made an assured start.

This is getting quite bizarre. You remind me of my friend Jez. After 2 pints you can prove him wrong and he still won't accept it. I feel this would be going down the same street. You think it's amazing, I don't. I beat my 4 year old nephew at 'Snap' 10 times in a row. He's not even sure how to the play the game.
Superb record though - 10 games undefeated.
