The Pitch

Post by Walt » Tue Mar 28, 2017 6:58 am

Just wondering how the recovery has gone. Has anyone seen it recently?

We should have an immaculate pitch this weekend. I don't think it goes as long as this without being used during summer does it! Seems like a crazy amount of time since we've been on the Turf!

A load of rain followed by (4?) Dry sunny days so far. Even my Barron wasteland of a garden is turning green. I'd be disappointed if it's not close to perfect by Saturday.

I went to the mothers day meal on Sunday and from the suites in the longside I thought it looked good.

But I was talking to one of the staff who was saying it was struggling and close up it didn't look as good.

I think he used Mourinho as an example, saying if he was coming next weekend then he wouldn't be happy.

But neither of us are experts!

I doubt it will be anything like perfect. It will certainly looked better than it did for the Lincoln game but it will probably have to limp through until it gets major surgery in the summer.

Do we want it perfect though?

Spurs will benefit more than us if its a slick and excellent surface. We need to make our home games like a 1 sided cup game. Use the pitch and it's surroundings to out advantage.

Time to put this little club mentality behind us when it comes to playing other Prem teams.

I have forgotten where it is, it's been so long since I have been there. Better set the coordinates
on the SatNav.

Other than for inclement weather(such as winter of 62-63) I honestly can't recall a gap of what will be 7 weeks without a home league game. I recall a gap of 5 weeks in 87-88 after we'd played at home to Newport but I think 7 weeks might be a record.

I always understood these new pitches were hard wearing, foul weather resistant.
Looked fantastic post that Forest game until this winter.
Has something gone wrong or is it just the normal lifespan of such pitches?

Is it a problem underneath the pitch rather than on it ? Not that I know anything about growing grass........honest!
