MS Excel help needed

Post by jdrobbo » Wed Mar 29, 2017 2:14 pm

Hi everyone,

Quick question to ask....

I have several pages of Excel containing various sets of historical mean data.

I would like to learn how to set the spreadsheet so that cells containing certain values (within a particular column) change 'fill colour' as and when new data is inputted.

i.e..... in simple terms....I'd like all the cells that contain an average of <45 to be red, those 45-50 (orange), 51-65 (yellow), 66+ (green).

If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd be most grateful!

Thanks in advance.

John

I think this can be done through the conditional formatting function pal

Definitely conditional formatting, pretty easy to do

Select the entire column and use conditional formatting as another member has suggested. Unless you know how many rows you want the formatting to apply to, in which case you can just select those cells.

Yep pretty straightforard. Just remember to copy and paste down, if you're adding new rows. As otherwise the conditional format will only apply a certain range of cells.

Thanks all,

I've managed to do exactly what I needed to achieve.

Brilliant.

Cheers again.
