Just a few, most involve you insulting people because they disagree with you; which of course makes them stupid, idiot, little englander fascists.

After all, we won by two goals anyway.

Re: Cadbury's Egg Hunt
Typical silly anti-Christian claptrap.
"Let's have Easter without Easter."
You might think that's appropriate TurtleBrains but most people recognise that we ought to at least pay some kind of lip service to the religion that has formed the bedrock of our secular society. No other religion in the history of mankind has done this so whether you have Faith or not, it might be worth taking that into account lest one of the other, less accommodating religions, becomes predominant.
And who was speaking out against the need for religious observance on the BBC article on the matter? Only the flaming "Humanist Society".
Since when did Humanism become anti-religious? I think they're confusing themselves with the Secular Society personally. I'm all for Humanism and that, to my mind at least, involves duly respecting other's rights to religion. If the Humanist Society imagine its their job to annoy Christians they've lost all sense of what they ought to stand for.
They're no better than silly, juvenile anti-Christian keyboard warriors.

Re: Cadbury's Egg Hunt
I had a dream last night that someone tried to say that our secular society was built on a bedrock of Christianity, as if Christianity doesn't continue to be the glass ceiling of this particular secular society. For example, there's still a country in the UK where you can't legally get an abortion if your pregnancy was the result of a rape. But not to take this thread off topic, because this controversy is a much more serious than that.
"Bedrock of our secular society" indeed

Re: Cadbury's Egg Hunt
This is an absolute non-story based on the fiction that Cadburys have removed the word Easter off their literature about the Easter egg hunt. A quick glance at their website shows it mentioned dozens of times, and no they haven't changed it recently as a result of this 'controversy'.
And as others have mentioned already, if you go back far enough in time Easter wasn't even a Christian festival. Hypocrisy much?
Honestly, Christians need to lose this victim complex. It's doing them no favours.

I'm pretty sure "they" refers to those who are flipping their **** over this nonsense. Nice try though.

Re: Cadbury's Egg Hunt
Well, post #22 is a follow up comment to the original post you're whining about, which was post #20. When you said "follow up comments" I expected there to be more than one follow up comment. ie. 2 or more. I mean, if we're taking the literal and most malicious of intepretations of comments nowadays i could easily call you a liar. Or i can choose to understand that you were simply being unspecific, yet benign, in your choice of words.Mattster wrote:Posts #20 & #22, not exactly easy to miss in a thread of 25 posts, "digging", kind of supports my thinking that you're intentionally misreading.

So which will it be, are you a liar or are we going to be mature about this?

Wow. I didn't have you pegged for the type that gets excessively obtuse when cornered in the hope that people won't be able to follow it. That's a textbook attempt there though, they could use that example in workshops on debating styles. Before we get into it I'll point out I'm not whining, honestly couldn't give a toss about the use of the word Easter on chocolate eggs, chocolate is chocolate and it's got only a tenuous link to Christianity at the best of times.
They are follow up comments in that they are comments by the same person that followed up in the same thread and demonstrated Sid's use of the word "they" was generalising all Christians and his own dislike of Christians/Christianity.
I like that in all of this you've still managed to dodge responding to the point I'm making in my posts, that you're, at best, ignoring or, at worst, endorsing being derogatory towards a group of people with many diverse characteristics who happen to share the same religious beliefs. A stance that you would usually oppose.

Re: Cadbury's Egg Hunt
Matt - I dislike all religions as a general rule of thumb and most of them can have their roots traced back to earlier religions.
Christianity and Islam both borrow heavily from previous religious teachings including, but not limited too, Judaism, Egyptian and Greek mythology.
I personally think that Religion shouldn't be the focal point for any society, I don't need a story book telling me not to be a dick to others.
Whilst Christianity has in many ways provided the basis for how our society behaves, its only because it became the dominant religion when the Romans adopted it when they could see it growing in popularity.
We could go on, but you get my point by now I'm sure.
Once society can move past using religion as a main guide to living life the world will be a better place.

At least at protests people get hurt every now and then, but no one ever died from the word Easter not appearing absolutely everywhere.
What we should do is get all those Christians who feel victimised everytime someone tells them they can't impose their religion on others into a room with all the lefties who get triggered bya ******* advert, and all the right-wingers who get triggered when someone is not allowed to use someone elses platform to talk ****, and Muslims who suit up over a cartoon, or Jews who flip out when [deleted by mods], and then seal the doors and all ventilation and then bury them under 10km of rock. Or fire them into space for the amusement of the rest of us.
