Depressing news.
I'm clutching at straws here but at least the media might start to scrutinize the West's bombing objectives a bit more sharply now.

I wonder if Trump let his fairly important Chinese visitor know that the USA were going to let a few loose at Syria..?
Did the Chinese tourist [Chinese President Xi Jinping] have a view on this, and did he find out from ABC or CBS News?

They lied about iraq, they lied about Lybia, but I suppose they are telling the truth this time with Syria and everything is totally what they say it is. I mean after all, what could possibly go wrong with removing a largely secular leader from an unstable middle eastern country? I'm sure it won't escalate things with Russia either. Everything will be fine.bartons baggage wrote:Any regime that would use chemical weapons on its own people need bombing.

Trump needs to be have a slice of history, he never was going to keep out of foreign ventures, he's got his eye on Iran and North Korea and probably wouldn't mind a showdown with China.
Bullies remain bullies until they meet their match, sadly there are non around so he's got a field day.

A boy with his new toys, just had to use them, the reaction by the American public will be critical because they elected him to solve their problems not to become a foreign adventurer, but of course aggression always has its followers in the US.

Assad being a secular leader doesn't mean it's OK to do the **** he does. Saddam Hussein was a largely secular leader too in the sense that he didn't enforce fundamentalist islamic law on his subjects but he was still a monumental ****.ClaretMoffitt wrote:They lied about iraq, they lied about Lybia, but I suppose they are telling the truth this time with Syria and everything is totally what they say it is. I don't think for a second that Trump gives a **** about the victims of this chemical attack (when he welcomes them to America i'll change my tune), and i'm pleasantly surprised that he even bothered to respond militarily at all, but at least this strike against the airfield that this chemical attack likely originated from should give Assad pause before thinking of using Sarin or other chemical weapons again.

Extremely erratic turnaround. I personally do not believe Assad would risk doing this. He has (had) the upper hand. Why would he need to go to such extremes? Trump is a dangerous buffoon who should be removed, one way or another, as soon as possible.

Socialists can be much more dangerous than religious fanatics because there are no reference points to stop them, religions tend to have at there centre love, it is their exclusive nature and the odd contradictions which can be pounced on by those with a mission that make them dangerous.
Socialism with no morality is much more dangerous, people are expendable, as of course was capitalism, religion can keep the cap on fundamentally destructive behaviour.

Some people are going to have real difficulty separating this action from the guy who ordered it.
It's the right thing to do, Assad gassed civilians (bluelabrador conspiracies aside). If nobody does anything at that point, when will they? And appeasing Putin can't last forever, it never does.

Oh **** off with this "Religion gives us morality bullshit".

And by the way, there is not "endtimes" prophecy that socialists look forward to. So tell me more about how religion can keep a cap on destructive behaviour.

Of course it's a dig. That's basically all you do. You ask me a question, i give a considered, perfectly benign response and then you fire back with something crazy like "oh i think i understand, you want to kill all the Jews and eat babies". All you have are digs and shittalking.

Alles egal.
Do nothing and the west is "standing idly by whilst innocent children suffer" (see the pictures we've taken); do something and "the west is using bullying tactics again" to pursue it's wicked goals.
It won't alter anything much in the middle east either way. Missile makers will be quite happy I guess.

This Trump situation is different, though I was never an out and out supporter of his like I am with brexit. I was still a huge advocate of his policy to stay out of the middle east and refrain escalations with Russia. This has totally spat in the face of those promises. If I had voted for him and was an American citizen I'd be on the streets protesting right now over this. I've always had and voiced my concerns over him but this really goes beyond backsliding. Literally the first challenging situation he faced he totally rolled on his stance and what so many voted for on him, it's pathetic.

US missile strike against Syria LIVE UPDATES
08:46 GMT
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that the US strike on Syria reminds him of the attack on Iraq back in 2003, which was launched without approval from the UN Security Council.
“This reminds us of the 2003 situation, when the US and the UK, along with their allies, intervened in Iraq without approval from the UN Security Council, which was a blatant breach of international law,” Lavrov said.

"I and millions like me preferred Trump to Clinton precisely because he said he would NOT attack Syria.
He has fallen to the Zionists and the media 'Russian agent' disinformation.
The US opposed a UN Inquiry into the "chemical attack" in Idlib. It is ridiculous to imagine that Assad would sink his own war against the rebels when he is so clearly winning. the rebels used chemical weapons in Aleppo last year. the russian assertion of bombs hitting a store of such weapons rings true.
Now that the US has destroyed the Homs air base, ISIS/AlQaeda are rushing into the vacuum to attack just as they did when the US killed a 62 Syrian troops in Deir El-Zour in Eastern Syria last year.
ISIS/Al Qaeda are western creations and they are "our boys" in the eyes of our lying leaders."
Ex-UK Ambassador: Assad wasn't behind the chemical attack
"Former British Ambassador to Syria Peter Ford says those calling for intervention in Syria are likes "dogs returning to their own vomit"
Peter Ford says he believes it is "highly unlikely" that Russia or the Assad regime was behind the attack in Idlib."

Lol. What? I think 'imbeciles' is a perfectly fair and measured way to describe Trump supporters who ignored people who were telling them that Trump isn't the God they think he is, who are then shocked and outraged when Trump turns out not to be the God they thought he was.Chobulous wrote:Anybody else noticed that Wolfie's outbursts are getting more and more vitriolic. Yes. Contemporaneous reporting in the aftermath of the showing that it occured and it's victims, along with the Pentagon saying that they have radar footage of Assad's bombers taking off from the airbase and flying towards the city at a time consistent with the attack. Russia stated that they had no planes in the area at the time of the attack and the lack of contradictory radar evidence from the Pentagon supports the idea that Russia had nothing militarily to do with it.
Or, maybe they were all actors a part of a massive hoax.

Re: Trump bombs Syria
Also, and this would be a little but ironic but Trump should have got congressional approval for this bombing (exactly why Obama couldn't do anything the last time Assad did this) so imagine if Trump actually got himself impeached for doing something people like me supported.
Re: Trump bombs Syria
There is no evidence ATM. Nothing has been substantiated.
Like I said, I bet the jihadists and Isis are happy today.
Like I said, I bet the jihadists and Isis are happy today.
Re: Trump bombs Syria
the news for me is obviously in who the target was, I "believe" first time against Assad, and anyone who believes Assad is not a terrorist is an ostrich. and I believe the American public will be wholly behind this strike in the majority. The chemical attack was a complete about face and who did it is the only thing that may be questionable, am quite sure it was done but who ordered it I don't know Yet the Americans obviously have a firm belief and some form of evidence about who did it, I will give them the benefit of the doubt for now, if they simply did not know then it would not have happened, or would it!
A line has been drawn and the Assad regime now know where the line is, will they want to put there tootsies over the line again only time will tell.
However no one will be in two minds as to whether Trump/America will act I think is now displaced, but you never know with some people.
politician's lying, whatever next, that was the main news I read in this litany of garbage, made me actually gasp and check major news sources for confirmation of it, alas it appears to be just more fake news

Mrs Palin, is that you?

Re: Trump bombs Syria
Trump had no other choice but to take military action. He had to show a strong arm not just to the Syrians, but also to the Russians who have gained a foot hold in the middle east due to the weakness of Obama.
Trump will be good for the west, and a relief from the weakness and incompetence of Obama.

#AlNusra terrorists are targeting #Hama airbase with grad missiles.
This come after #US attack on AlShouairat airbase.
Very convenient!

Re: Trump bombs Syria
So,
Iran, Hezbollah and Russia support the Syrian government. There are over 1000 rebel groups including IS and Kurds. Saudi support many of the rebels including IS. Turkey hate Syria and also the Kurds. Syria gasses its own people. The coalition, including UK, France and US are bombing IS in Syria and Iraq. Rebels are recruiting from western countries, including UK. Now USA have decided to unilaterally bomb a Syrian airbase.
What could possibly go wrong?
