Cricket County Championship

Post by tybfc » Sun Apr 09, 2017 6:50 pm

The first three games of the season started on Friday and the first result happened this afternoon when Hampshire defeated Yorkshire.

Lancashire are playing at Chelmsford against Essex who need 388 runs tomorrow to beat us and we need 8 wickets to win.

Long may this continue.

Not looking as good now at Chelmsford.

Lancashire have failed to take a wicket in the first session.

Looking like a draw.

Yorkshire are going to struggle unless they can call upon world class batsmen from somewhere and get their bowling attack fit.

Have an old mate who watches Surrey.
Caught up with him last year and, he talked about that big ton Lawrence hit there in his first 1st class season.
Said it was a very composed innings for a young lad and, he's a good range of shots.
Not seen him, myself.
But heard nothing but good stuff about him.

Was Lawrence's 5th First Class Ton in only his second season.
Probably one to watch for a future England player.

Yorkshire top of division 1 after shredding Warwickshire by an innings, may be temporary if Lancs spinners get to work on Surrey!?

This Coad seems to have had a very good start.

Seems Yorkshire have got over last seasons capitulation.

Derbyshire second innings 280-0
Northants have used 10 bowlers hoping they are set a target on last day

The muppetry has begun early this season, unsurprisingly from two of the biggest on here.

Good to see Lancs developing some good young players again.

Surrey 260-2
Heading for a draw
Lancashire spinners Parry and Kerrigan not capable of bowling teams out in the longer form of the game.
John Embrury was the finest example of this .
His average Test return would be 2-80 from 50 overs.
It could be said he bowled batsmen in.
Most overrated Test Match bowler of all time.

Shame Kerrigan hasn't seemed to progress. Was it his early test selection that has dismantled his progress? Was he taking wickets previously in Div 1?

Northants win by 3 wickets off the penultimate ball. They're enjoyable to watch in all forms.

Watched them last week. A few Welsh lads but otherwise Saffers and Aussies. Other than "entertaining" a few members, they seem to offer little to the game.
