Trips
Good to see him getting more game time and doing so well, he really did have a good game yesterday.

Re: Trips
Spurs are certainly blessed at right back! IMO he's not as good as Walker, who I think is probably the best right back in the Premier League, but Trips would get in most teams' right back position.

Re: Trips
Walker is blessed with more pace than trips but trips is no slouch. Great performance yesterday. I love seeing ex clarets who gave their all for us and left in the right manner playing well at the top of the league.

Re: Trips
Yeah, that's what I mean. Trips is up against the best right back I think I've seen in the Prem for some time. Any other club, I reckon Trippier would start. In fact, I'm actually now thinking... any other right back in the Prem that would keep Tripper out of the team?PaintYorkClaretnBlue wrote:Walker is blessed with more pace than trips but trips is no slouch. Agreed, Trips is unlucky that he has come up against Walker in his battle for that spot.FactualFrank wrote:Yeah, that's what I mean. Re: Trips
Walker doesn't have the cross on him that Trippier has.
I noticed when we played Spurs that Trippier when in space to cross didn't, and went back to pass it to another outside the box.
Mind you it's nothing new. England with Walker spent whole of the Euro's not crossing the ball.

Re: Trips
Good mates with a few Spuds fans and I always get texts when Trips is on the teamsheet, as if I need telling as I rated him and always keep an eye out for him, probably more than I would for Jay Rod but I think Trips was a decent lad who we adopted.

Re: Trips
Walker does put balls in, but it's often not from outwide. He often comes inside and gets into the penalty area and then fires the ball across, as opposed to a Trippier type wider cross.

Re: Trips
Each to their own, but even with Claret Specs on, he's nowhere near as good as Walker. Trippier is getting minutes but it's because Pochettino is resting Walker.
Re: Trips
No you don't, you prefer him to Walker because he played for Burnley. Trippier is definitely a top 5 RB in the league, Valencia, Walker, Bellerin and Coleman are probably the 4 better fullbacks.Wile E Coyote wrote:i think hes better than walker, his performance yesterday was perfect too.

Re: Trips
well its all subjective Factual Frank,
and its a footballing assessment i was alluding to, nowt to do with his burnley connection.
once they move on, i have no interest. but i believe he is a better player.

That's fair enough WEC. Like I say, Spurs are spoilt for choice. Both very good.Wile E Coyote wrote:well its all subjective Factual Frank,

He doesn't get enough first team football.Top Claret wrote:Trippier music be dew an England call up
Nor is he a media favourite, as they normally push forward names of players they want regardless of how much football they've played.

Re: Trips
I posted on the last England match thread, Walker never EVER creates or scores a goal.
Brilliant defensively, with his pace, but for all the charging forward he does: nothing.
If Spuds were playing a side without an attacking left sider I'd go Trips every time.

Re: Trips
Have to agree with 'minnie'. Both very good full backs but I also think Trippier is a better footballer than Walker. Physicality and aggression play a major part in Walker's game but he too often makes poor decisions with his final ball whereas Trippier, though lacking the athleticism of Walker has much more of 'a football brain'. He simply hasn't played enough in his time in North London.minnieclaret wrote:I posted on the last England match thread, Walker never EVER creates or scores a goal.

He would only sign a new deal if we agreed a £3.5m release clause, following relegation, to any PL club. We hoped that we would stay up and the clause wouldn't come into effect.Pstotto wrote:Trippier and the dot-to-dot perplexity i.e. sold for 3.5 instead of 35M. Re: Trips
I definitely rate him higher than Walker as although Walker literally runs past most players his final ball is usually behind play and doesn't find a man. He did the same for England in the euros, no end product.
Trips got at least 2 assists on the last game so well done to him. They were waxing lyrical about him on motd.
Couldn't have chosen a worse club for first tearm football tho!
I hope poch gives him some more games as his crossing is second to none.
