Need a decent ref in a hostile crowd. Let's just hope Clattenburg doesn't realise he made a mistake with the Barnes elbow at Stoke and is on the lookout for him.
Two sent off in two premier league games at Everton. Not the best record there.

Re: ARTICLE: Referee confirmed for Everton game
Could this be Mark Clattenburg's final PL match? He is now firmly esconcedin his new job in Saudi Arabia and is flying back to the UK to referee our game. The feeling amongst some referees at the lower level is that he is being treated poorly by the referees' governing body because he has jumped ship, in fact, many are talking about our game as being a 'nothing game' which should have been given to one of the less experienced referees to help them along.
Anyway, if this does turn out to be Mark's last PL game, I hope that he has a good one and is not remembered for all the wrong reasons. He has been a good referee over many years and worked hard to attain his elite status. As someone who saw him when he first started refereeing in the South East Northumberland League and the Morpeth sunday League I wish him well in his new venture.

Re: ARTICLE: Referee confirmed for Everton game
Only ref I rate in the prem, I see Pawson was making more enemies this week with Sunderlands sending off, not sure it was deliberate on Herrera. He loves giving out cards. Middlesborough at home Pawson was pathetic, 11 yellow cards given for the most innocuous of things, wasn't even a dirty game.
What are we left with, Jon Moss, Micheal Oliver and Craig Pawson, shows the prem are really lacking in strength in depth with this shower.
The ref agency really need to up their game it seems....

Re: ARTICLE: Referee confirmed for Everton game
The decision Clattenburg got badly wrong at Stoke was not showing a red to the Stoke player who pulled back Gray. And with the rules now it should have also been a penalty. Other than that, he's been outstanding in his three Burnley games this season. Saturday is very likely to be his last Burnley game.Quickenthetempo wrote:Need a decent ref in a hostile crowd. Anyone talking about this as a nothing game doesn't really understand football.

We're due for a bit of luck with refereeing at Goodson after the last two visits.

I think it is fair to say that Howard Webb and Mike Jones favoured the home sides in those two games. Quite how Mirallas stayed on the pitch last time only Jones will know.ClaretPope wrote:We're due for a bit of luck with refereeing at Goodson after the last two visits.

I think the vast majority would regard Michael Oliver as consistently one of the best, and not to be bracketed with Pawson or Moss.Giftonsnoidea wrote:

I think Oliver hasn't had a good season by his standards, best ref for me this season has been Atkinson
Clattenburg is a huge loss for English and European football
