Excellent news.
Let's hope that's the last of his injuries.

Re: JBG scores twice
Pleased to see that he is back performing, he has had a frustrating season but could still contribute to our survival in the last few games.

Re: JBG scores twice
This is great news. He adds a lot to the side when he is fit. Could still prove a key player for us. Rewatched highlights of the Everton game (h) recently, he almost won it with a cracking effort before hitting the bar and Arfield scoring the rebound. UTC

wont hold my breath but hopefully he will get some 1st team game time and help out, but been largely disappointing for me and believe he needs long run in the team

So you've been disappointed by him, but yet you want him to have an extended run in the team?KateR wrote:wont hold my breath but hopefully he will get some 1st team game time and help out, but been largely disappointing for me and believe he needs long run in the team

Re: JBG scores twice
He's been encouraging when on the pitch, and I think we'll be a better team with him on the wing.
Harsh to have him down as injury prone, as some have, when his latest injury came as a result of a crunching tackle. It's not exactly the same as pulling up in training with the same injury each time.

Can't remember him being disappointing.
Maybe you mean his injuries have been disappointing?

Re: JBG scores twice
JBG like Joey was deliberately targeted in that cup game it was a throwback to Revie with weeds in approach (without the ball playing skills to go with it
Re: JBG scores twice
I agree Chester Perry and had the ref clamped down as he should have done from the outset and sent off the elbow crunching big lad of Lincoln things may have been different.
Re: JBG scores twice
Did he start the game too? Encouraging if he's got through the full 90.
I've been impressed with him, especially in that run when we played 451, he gives us something a bit different.

Re: JBG scores twice
Makes me so happy remembering JBG''s perfect pass back to Barnes for the Crystal Palace winner (which he had to work hard for since Barnes' first pass to him left him a lot of work to do
) Can't wait for him to get back on the pitch!!

Said exactly this at the time. Was a shocking tackle. But because we lost and because of the barton incident we didnt focus on what was a proper leg breaker. Intentional too.

I preferred his lovely backheel to start the attack for Vokes' goal against Everton

I love JBG. The sooner he's back the better.

Agreed, one of the reasons I wasn't keen on the idea of Snodgrass.jdrobbo wrote:I love JBG. The sooner he's back the better.

Re: JBG scores twice
Him and Defour are probably the most technically gifted players at the club. Can't wait to see him back.

No coincidence we played our best football when JBG and Defour were in the team

Re: JBG scores twice
Great news, cost peanuts in todays market. I can't believe some fans don't rate him. One of our few players with flair and a trick or two.
Re: JBG scores twice
I was excited when we bought him, thought he did not do much in first few games that I saw, flashes of what was to come but then injured. Same with Brady, takes time to get fully in tune with the team, hence why I would like to see him play and get more games as I think he is potentially one of the best we have. However (IMO) he has not shown what I expectedfidelcastro wrote:So you've been disappointed by him, but yet you want him to have an extended run in the team?
hope it explains somewhat

Re: JBG scores twice
As we've only got six games left it's certainly worth the risk playing him if he's available, even if it's only from the bench. He might just produce a cross that gets us a winning goal.

Re: JBG scores twice
Big deal this.
He's been a bit in and out with injury, but the most recent one most definitely wasn't his fault and the other ones could just be unlucky. We won't know if fitness is an issue for him for at least another year - as with Defour, one disrupted season can just be a coincidence, especially in adapting to another division (and in his case, he also played a lot of football last summer which means all this season, he might just be a bit more fatigued than he normally expects to be).
But he's a good player. I thought he showed some real quality in the autumn with terrific delivery from open play, good vision. enough pace to cause the odd problem and good technical quality generally. If he can get fit, he's got a real role to play in the run in and then again next season. As much as anything, if he's on the bench then we've got another creative player to call on who can change a game.

Agreed. I thought we looked like a much better side during that little run. Almost as if the framework was given a little more freedom...
We have looked quite one-dimensional without them

Re: JBG scores twice
Would be nice to see all our new signings in the same team, well maybe not all but certainly Gudmundsson, Brady, Hendrick(s), and Defour. As previously stated I think (actually, what do I know?) that would make us more 3 dimensional. Is that even a football phrase? Anyway sorry if this sounds like ********, I'm not claretspice you know.

There'll be few Clarets, even on here, that'll disagree with that.Newcastleclaret93 wrote:No coincidence we played our best football when JBG and Defour were in the team
