Multi-Car Pile Up On M65

Between Jct 11 and Jct 12 Eastbound
Traffic at a standstill tailed back to Jct 9.

Just thought it would take hours to clear with all investigating faffing about they usually do.
I live close by and can see a stretch of motorway between jct 9 and jct 10 at the end of my block.
All seems clear now.

I drove past at 17:45 going westbound and it couldn't have happened too much earlier, looked quite bad with one car looking like it'd flipped over a number of times.

It might not necessarily be a driver or drivers that were at fault.
A couple of years ago I was driving west between jct 12 and jct 11.I was overtaking a HGV on a left curve when what looked like a car bonnet or something similar came into view right in the middle of the outside lane.
I hadn't gone beyond the lorry so couldn't pull back in so had to drive over it.Thankfully this large peice of metal had a groove on each side and drove over it without any damage to my car.
Yes I did inform the police as soon as I could.
Thing is though,at night without any lighting with something like that in the middle of the outside lane while overtaking a lorry on a curve one might not be as lucky.
