Seat Swapping

Post by midlander63 » Tue Apr 18, 2017 2:10 pm

Does anyone know when it will be possible to swap seats for next season.

I've sat in a group of 4 for the last 11 years - now 3 of them are moving on (student age so relocating to the Cricketfield).

One seat is sorted - my daughter has taken her brother's seat. I'd like to move to the seat on the other side of her and this will release 2 seats next to each other which makes sense to me.

If anyone has any info it will be gratefully received - thanks.

If you went down to the clubshop anytime apart from peak times on matchday, I'm sure they would sort you out.

Aren't we waiting for the club to announce it?
If there's enough interest that is?

Once it's all done they'll then change the expensive phone number for a cheaper one.

The ticket office don't want to know. I asked about a swap for my mother, because she can't see clearly enough to the far end so we want to move nearer the middle. First of all they said it wasn't possible, and then they said it would be possible but isn't club policy.

Tried calling the ticket office earlier.

I was on hold for 7 minutes listening to an advert for Premier Inn (no. 1 in the queue apparently) and then the line went dead.

I'm eagerly awaiting the seat swap period too. Want to move stands and add another season ticket. When I renewed, I was told could do this during the seat swap week. I asked the club last week via twitter and got the reply that nothing had been decided yet.

Surely seat swap could have been the minute the early bird ended.

A week or so later would give them time to process all the season ticket purchases, there will be a lot in all fairness.

That's when I thought it would be.

Seems to make sense - let the early birds renew, then give anyone wishing to swap a chance to do so and then throw the rest open to new season ticket holders.

But I haven't heard a thing since the end of March.

I renewed at the end of March and I asked them about swapping seats and they said I'd have to wait until seats swap week. They don't seem to have a consistent approach to this.

I sent an email to the club asking about this and received a reply from Alex Gibson, ticket office supervisor, last week.

It said, "We will hopefully be doing a seat swap week in May sometime.

Keep your eye on the website it will be updated with all information about seat swaps."

Thanks - I sent an e-mail via the ticket office e-mail address a few weeks ago but got no reply.

Maybe it's just me?

Emailing is far cheaper than calling the premijm rate ticket office number midlander.

I'm in the JHU and that's definitely how it happened when I renewed my season ticket.

If I've got time tomorrow I might go down to the ground and try it again.

If you do go down to the ground mention that some one else swapped, and see what they say,I won't be very happy if she was fobbing me off and I end up with the same shite seat I have had this season

Steve1956 - I said I'd let you know how I got on.

I went down to the ground this afternoon and explained that I wanted to move 2 seats to the right and they said it couldn't be done until seat swap week and they weren't sure if they were having seat swap this season.
I explained what you said and that threw them for a bit and they said it wasn't possible. Eventually it dawned on all of us that you could change your seat because you were moving to a seat that hasn't been bought for next season - so I guess your seat swap is OK!

I wasn't quite so lucky - they wouldn't let me swap even though I explained that the person in the seat I wanted wasn't renewing next season. They checked and verified this and they actually called him to make sure but they still wouldn't let me swap.
I explained that if I moved 2 seats they would have 2 seats next to each other available for someone to either buy or be moved to - but still no dice.

They did, however, place the seat 'on reserve' for me so that if and when the seat swap week takes place I should hopefully be able to move.

It still seems a bit daft to me but I have to say the ladies in the ticket office were very patient with me.

So you've got to wait until seat swap week, BUT they haven't decided whether or not to have one yet?

That's a well thought out answer

Why didn't you just pay for a seat that you liked and then cancel your previous seat?

Or threaten to cancel payment?

Apparently they've got to move some people around in the JHU next season for some reason (people who've already bought their seats). They've got to figure out where they're going to relocate people so that's why they weren't sure if there's going to be a seat swap.

I understood that but I couldn't figure out why moving me 2 seats to the right affects anything. It doesn't result in any fewer seats being available and releases 2 seats next to each other which I thought might have been of some benefit when they're trying to relocate people.

As i said though they were very patient for the 20 minutes we stood there going over this!

Fair points - but:

I like the seats we have plus I've just moved my daughter into the seat next to mine which her brother currently sits in (he's off to the Cricketfield next season as he's 18 - student age).

If I'd not renewed both seats I'd have been looking for 2 seats together and probably would have ended up in worse seats - so I won't be cancelling payment.

No it wasn't aimed at you, as you want to move two seats away.

You were doing fine 'til you got to the 5ft 8 - I'm only 5ft 7!
