How many points will we need to stop up?
How many points will we need to stop up?
I've thought we need to get to 37 and I'm sticking by that.
That's based on Swansea playing Man u and Everton in their next two matches and Hull having Spurs at home on the last day, plus struggling to win away like us.

I predicted a couple of months ago we'd get 37 points and finished 17
I'm starting to think 40 to be sure

We'll get them in single !
Re: How many points will we need to stop up?
I predict Swansea and Hull will get five more points so we need two more.

Re: How many points will we need to stop up?
After today's results for both Hull and Swansea I think we'll
need 39. possibly even 40 so that's one win and a draw.
I can see Swansea picking up another couple of wins and possibly a draw from their remaining
so that's 7 for them putting them on 38.
Hull may also pick up another 6 or 7 points putting them on 39/40.
So one more win for us or even two draws might suffice.
The sooner it comes the better.
Would be getting worried if we lost out next two.

Three. It'd leave Swansea needing to win three of their last four.

Sticking with the point a game keeps you up, we're still ahead of that so two more from five for me.

Re: How many points will we need to stop up?
As it stands, if we lose all five games then Swansea either need two wins or one win and three draws to overhaul us.
That is a minimum, add to this every point we get has to be matched by them, so if they lose at Old Trafford next weekend, they could only get a maximum of forty and the pressure would be immense on them.
This team has not let us down and even gave it a very good go under trying circumstances in 2014/2015, for people to suddenly assume they are going to implode at such a level as to let inferior teams relegate us then they need to have a look at their life and how negative they must be in their day to day existence.

You have to do it yerseĺ and not just count on others; one win or a couple of draws will be ok.

Re: How many points will we need to stop up?
Three more.
Those two wins today down the bottom were very unhelpful.
The bottom two are down I think.
We have a game in hand on some of them ( tomorrow) we really could do with a point from that.
Our goal difference over Swansea and Hull could well be crucial, that's worth a point.
A win at Palace or over West Ham and we're laughing.
I wouldn't fancy going to Tottenham on the last day needing points.
- this relegation battle still has legs, no worries about that.

Re: How many points will we need to stop up?
Even though we've yet to play our game tomorrow I'd post the table as it looked four games ago. (This is presuming we lose tomorrow).
The gap was five points, like it is now. As Goody1975 points out, for every point we gain in the next five matches is another point Swansea have to get, likewise Hull.
We've only lost three games in a row once this season so at the very least we are likely to pick up a point or two. That would require Swansea to get a further 8. Even though they produced a shock against Liverpool, teams at the bottom rarely, if ever, do that more than once in a season. Man U are on a long unbeaten run and the best Swansea could realistically hope for is a draw. Everton are no mugs either and they'll be fighting for the European places.
Obviously teams do get shock results, but when Swansea beat Liverpool they were on the "new manager bounce" run.
This is all presuming our form collapses, but why should it? We were under immense pressure v Stoke but got the points and made sure we didn't lose against Boro. Even if we under perform slightly it still means that Swansea will have to probably beat either Man U. or Everton.

If Swansea and Hull both get 5 points then we won't need to pick up a single point.Fretters wrote:I predict Swansea and Hull will get five more points so we need two more.

Swansea fixtures:
Manchester United v Swansea City
Swansea City v Everton
Sunderland v Swansea City
Swansea City v West Bromwich Albion
Hull City fixtures:
Southampton v Hull City
Hull City v Sunderland
Crystal Palace v Hull City
Hull City v Tottenham Hotspur
The games that Swansea have left are certainly far from easy

I can see Swansea getting seven points. If we don't get two points from five games, well we won't deserve to stay up.

Re: How many points will we need to stop up?
You've been telling everyone recently Spijed that we're perfectly safe, and now you're mucking your pants.
I thought that we'd stay up before a ball was kicked this season but I take issue with how easy you've previously said it has been to get to this point.
We've had to fight and work like nutters to get this far.

I've never said it was easy, but many of the results have been fairly straightforward in comparison to two years ago.Bin Ont Turf wrote:I thought that we'd stay up before a ball was kicked this season but I take issue with how easy you've previously said it has been to get to this point.
We've had quite a few victories at home this season where we haven't had to ride our luck. By that I mean the opposition missing glaring chances (Like Stoke did at Swansea today, for example).
Sunerland, Boro, Leicester, Watford, Liverpool, Stoke etc. have all been fairly routine wins, if you can call them that in the Prem where Tom Heaton has had little to do.
That's in stark contrast to the season 14/15 where we were losing very easily to the likes of West Ham, Palace etc.

Re: How many points will we need to stop up?
Putting my Le Tissier nose on I predict Swansea to pick up 5 more points and `ull to pick up 4. Get a point today and we will be safe. Don`t think we will today though. I reckon we WILL get 6 more points though (none today, nowt at Palace, draws against West Brom and Bournemouth and a final day victory against The Bubble men.Spijed wrote:Swansea fixtures:

So after all that, it was 35.
Or 34 and a good goal difference.
