it was exactly like this after we played Spurs
it was exactly like this after we played Spurs
Panic set in, we were five points clear. Swansea suddenly win a game for the first time in what seems like years against a poor Stoke side and everything collapses.
We are still in a fantastic position with five games to play.

Quite right spijed.
Whilst I don't wish to present the task as anything like a gimme, we are playing Man U when they're (relatively) weak and Palace have a game against Spurs in the week so it's a good time to play them too.
I reckon we might get a couple of draws out of those two games. Oh, and by the way, have you seen Swansea's next two games, wile e....?
Oh, and by the way again, we are still 5 points clear of relegation.
Out of us Hull and Swansea's situation , I know which one I'd prefer......

It's a problem, isn't it. Our next game is a virtually unwinnable game at home to Man United, while Swansea's is a very easy one at home to Man United. And Swansea are in a rich vein at form at the moment having just beaten a teriffic side in Stoke City, while our last home game we only just beat a dreadful side in Stoke City.Wile E Coyote wrote:we're not , united and an away game at palace next,
I agree, if we lose all five remaining games, we have a fair chance of going down; though I suspect Swansea won't get two wins out of four anway. But why should our form collapse? And even if it does, we can save the doom and gloom until after it happens.

Re: it was exactly like this after we played Spurs
Swansea will be looking to get some points, even if it's only one, from their games away to Man U
and home to Everton and then win their last two, away to Sunderland and home to WBA.
If they do any better and say beat Everton at home then I can see them winning at Sunderland
and also beating WBA in their last game.
So, they may well get 38 points, possibly up to 40.
They'll certainly need at least two wins from their last four to stand much of a chance
and we would probably have to lose most of ours
If we, per chance, lose our next two then we'll be looking for at least one win (or possibly two draws) from our last three.
Two home games against WBA and then finally West Ham with Bournemouth away in between.
The thing that worries me is that we've not really looked like winning a game for quite a while
and even though we managed a win against Stoke it was far from convincing and if we'd had drawn
I don't think we could have complained that much.
I do feel we will stay up but it may turn out to be much closer than hoped for.
Would love for us to turn in a great performance against Man U and come away with at least a point.
Or even all three!

We have won 8 of our last 10 home games. What you're complaining about is that we lost to Tottenham and drew with Chelsea, and that in the other eight we wouldn't have won if we'd let more goals in or scored less. Obviously getting 25 points in 10 home games doesn't guarantee we won't lose the next three, but on balance it's evidence in our favour that we might do OK. Save the worrying.jurek wrote:The thing that worries me is that we've not really looked like winning a game for quite a while

This thread seems to be created out of panic that other posters will panic and highlight what an awful day it has been.
Lets be honest today has been as bad as it gets and now theres a real chance we may need another couple of points to stay up. That said after Utd we have every chance to get points from all the 4 remaining fixtures and it will take a minor miracle for both Swansea and Hull to overtake us

Worry, worry, worry .
It's like finding a £50 note in the street then you spend the next month worried that you may lose it out of your pocket at some stage .

Where's the panic? I haven't really seen any.
Same on Twitter. A few "prominent" fans complaining about non-existent panic. A few posters getting a bit jittery is all. Hardly panic.

Yesterday's results went exactly as predicted and we still need one more point to ensure Swansea need to achieve more than two wins, which they won't.

I understand why managers say one game at a time, that is what we need to focus upon. Still think we will finish with around 45 points!
