'Sacrifice Tottenham Hotspur for three points against Burnley'
From the Croydon Advertiser
How would we feel if this happened? And they won? Is this appropriate, to rotate your squad in such a way that you rest all your "big names" etc and then they come out firing and raring to go for a match they are "more inclined to win" ??
Should we do this? Do you even think it will happen?

Maybe if we had big names to rest and adequate replacements. So in a word NO

Re: 'Sacrifice Tottenham Hotspur for three points against Burnley'
If I was a Palace fan who had just won at Anfield, against Arsenal and Chelsea I would be a tad peed off if Fat Sam thought Spurs were to big for us. A London rival too.
Them tactics have served him well at clubs like Blackburn until they got hammered 7-1 at Old Trafford and faced a fans backlash.
If we rested our players against teams who we thought we had no chance against we would be relegated by now.

What's this actually about c&j?
Re: 'Sacrifice Tottenham Hotspur for three points against Burnley'
If they do that and Spurs stuff them 4-0 it could work in our favour.
You have to grudgingly admire Fat Sam, but was a joyless soul he is.

If we did it we would end up putting out a better side as most of our best players are usually on the bench

Wouldn't be the first time, Mick McCarthy did it with Wolves, played a weakened side against Man United immediately before playing us. Took the fine and the 3 points if I remember.

Sorry, I thought I'd posted the link.
It's just someone's opinion that should happen, not officially from anyone at Palace, but it's a little bit of a weird statement I think.

In my view they are well within their rights to do so if that's a risk they want to take.

I'm sure if we were in their position we would consider rotating players. It's what United did on Sunday. Don't forget it's a 25 man squad and if you don't play fringe players you never know how they will cope. Sure every manager plays a team they think is capable of getting a result.

Big Sam just been on the radio saying he's considering changes.
Re: 'Sacrifice Tottenham Hotspur for three points against Burnley'
What difference does it make realistically? We're gonna play the same 442 ''tw*t it anywhere upfield and pray it bounces off an arse cheek and rolls out for a corner. If that fails, we are relying on the creativity from Heaton's boot, with his Jonny Wilkinson style punted free kicks. You never know, the wind may blow one in"

If it's not illegal, it's totally up to them who they pick.

Re: 'Sacrifice Tottenham Hotspur for three points against Burnley'
I long for the day someone does this and ends up getting spanked in BOTH fixtures.
Here's hoping it's the big fat corrupt one and his team.
Having thought about it tho, I seem to remember there is some sort of rule/regulation in place to ensure teams don't do this? If there is and that's the fine Wolves got, maybe the fine is no deterrent? Maybe points deduction would be more effective?

Re: 'Sacrifice Tottenham Hotspur for three points against Burnley'
Didn't the fines get abolished after Holloway kicked off about rotating his squad with Blackpool? He said the FA told him to pick a 25 man squad and it should be up to him how he uses it. Fair point in my opinion.

Re: 'Sacrifice Tottenham Hotspur for three points against Burnley'
If we take the game to Palace and attack we have a chance. If we sit back and play a wait and see game we will get nothing.Palaces Achilles is their defence and we need Ageyi on with instructions to attack.
In too many away games we have been over cautious and gained nothing.
Palace are beatable and we must be positive.

Yup, definitely not throwing this game.
I'm hoping Spurs stomp all over them though.
