Fantasic performance today. More forward thinking than Villa fans gave him credit for. Be interesting to see how him and Hendrick get on together for the rest of the season.

I was very nervous about him today, but he was outstanding.

Define outstanding.
Seriously I know what you mean, but considering his game time for us it was an excellent performance.

Great performance, looked really solid, passed well, their midfield numeric advantage was totally nullified first half.

Yep - fantastic performance from Westy. The gaffer played a blinder there.

Good show from Ashley and Scott in fact every last one stood out and made a resurgent Palace side look very ordinary
And well done the fans who have followed the team through out the season you deserved that the most UTC

Been saying for a while he should be in instead of Barton. He proved it for me today. Tidy, looks after the ball and no giving it away in situations where there is little pressure and a simple pass will do.

Looked exactly like what I always thought he'd be and tbh, hoped he would be.

A like for like improvement on Jones.

What do we want a ball winning, scrapping, sideways passer for?

Outstanding display...Carrick-like

Credit to Dyche for signing him in January, we obviously needed cover for Barton's pending suspension, Ashley stood up to the plate, bided his time and today demonstrated what a good signing he could be. Not a bad transfer window me thinks!

Thought he was brilliant. Moved the ball with the speed and conviction weve occasionally lacked recently, and i thought he got around the park a bit more dynamically than Barton out of possession too, which freed Hendrick up to roam a bit more.

Underrated customer i think. He could also be seen organising on occasions, which is perhaps no surprise from someone who captained Crewe as a teenager.

So is he now worth the £5 million people were complaining we've paid for him?

I actually thought he was slightly unlucky to lose his place for the Swansea game, where, Lincoln aside, he'd previously made a really solid start to his career with us.

He was excellent today and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him.

What we've seen of him so far you wonder what a lot of the Villa fans were smoking.

Mind you that's a club that sold Gary Cahill to Bolton.

Looks like an excellent signing. Should have replaced Barton weeks ago.

DMC is such an unsung role.
I hardly noticed him today, not through lack of effort or skills but with the ease in which he took to the role which I think speaks volumes.

Unbelievable the talent they have let go for peanuts in the last few years whilst signing foreign expensive flops. For starters Lowton and Westwood for us and saw Newcastle's player of the year was Ciaran Clark.

I'm not spoiling myself

People on here have been complaining about what we paid for a lad with 120 PL appearances for Villa.
They declared it as too much etc.
Some wrote him off before he'd played for us.

I didn't, so that's why I asked if he'd proven his worth to the loudmouths yet.

I'm really glad, as an expat, to hear that Westwood played so well. One post in particular said he is like Jones but better. That sounds good.

His passing and ball retention has always been one of his finest attributes and he did very well with those things today. For me I thought his workrate and endeavour was unbelievable too. Well played Ashley!

Very tidy footballer. A younger more athletic David Jones.
