Re: Jack Butland
Pressure on Heaton for what?
That 3rd choice keeper spot for England?
Butland when fit will get chosen simply because he's younger and the media love him.
I genuinely don't know how good he is because he's been out so long I can't remember what he was like before his injury.

Re: Jack Butland
Not sure I'd agree. Not only would I put Jack Butland ahead of Tom, I'd put him ahead of Pickford, Foster, Forster and Hart too. I think he should be first choice.

Re: Jack Butland
His defenders got him out of jail twice when he palmed shots to attackers.
Lucky today have to disagree with you jd.

Re: Jack Butland
That's fine, no problem. It's only his first home game back after being out for a year. I rate him incredibly highly.

Re: Jack Butland
balls.
pick your keeper for how he's playing now, not how he played last year.
Heaton at this moment by an absolute mile....clearly there are those who just can't grasp that we have the best keeper in the country currently...strangely when I talk to non Burnley fans they seem less blinkered and nearly all see Heaton as the best around.
Butland has looked a fine prospect but he hasnt got Tom's cconsistency.

Re: Jack Butland
Surely Forster must be the one to make way for Butland. Even Southampton fans think he is poor. However, I think the England goalkeeper coach is from Southampton. Tom should at least be number two.

Re: Jack Butland
Before his injury Butland was definitely ahead of Heaton in the England squad.
He was brilliant on the Turf a couple of years ago.
Anyone who wants to see how good he is have a look at the FA videos of him, Tom and Hart in training for England. Tom and Hart look brilliant - Butland is better than both.
Not sure how much the injury has impacted him but if he gets back to previous level he is destined for a big club and I think that puts him and Tom both ahead of Hart.
Not sure the type of manager Southgate is yet - but at the moment based on loyalty, form in Premier League, and consistency then right now Tom should be ahead of Butland (and Hart)....but as a keeper that can all change with one game when you have the quality of keepers waiting in the wings.
