Andre Gray contract situation
Andre Gray contract situation
Similar to Keane, out of contract at the end of next season
Now that survival is almost assured we can start talking about a new deal, if that is what the club want
Or, as with Keane, do we maximise his value this summer

Fingers crossed he signs a new deal. Be a large chunk of money to replace him in summer.

I think he will sign new contract, but summer likely to be very busy for recruitment as we continue to progress. Money stability and ambition we are surely more attractive to our targets.

I'd be okay with selling if we got a good offer for him (of course depends what we all define as 'good'). But I'd rather he stayed and we played to his strengths a little more.

We need to keep Andre at all costs unless he his hell bent on a move. Can't afford to lose him and Keane. We should also be looking for a new striker in 15million cat

worth keeping but we must find a way of playing to his strengths.
That delicious first time pass yesterday is what he thrives on.

I'd love Deeney at Burnley. There was a quote from him earlier this week about how too many footballers now want to be friends...swapping shirts and adding each other on social media. He just wants to go to war. He's got that fire I think Dyche could channel very effectively, much like with Barton. Can't see him coming here though.burnley007 wrote:Him and Deeney next season will be awesome!!

Troy Deeney has one of the best attitudes of any player in the game at the moment. Anyone who is disillusioned with the 'I want it all', social media-obsessed, under-performing, Dr Dre Beats-wearing prima donnas in Premier League clubs nowadays should go to the BBC i-Player and listen to what he had to say on Radio Five Live's '5 Live Sport' programme (7pm) on Friday. He spoke eloquently and in an insightful way about his journey to the top and his damning thoughts on so many of the younger newcomers to modern football in England. If he had put on a gruff voice, I could've been mistaken for thinking I was listening to Sean Dyche. He's a player who has achieved success the hard way and the right way - definitely a player made for Burnley.IndigoLake wrote:I'd love Deeney at Burnley. Mentioned on the radio commentary this afternoon about how well Deeney came across on Friday night. Would love to see him at Burnley. Can't see it mind!

Yes, he was terrific in that programme. changed my opinion of him completely.Man of Kent wrote:Troy Deeney has one of the best attitudes of any player in the game at the moment. Key thing for me is making sure replacements are on board before we let any under contract players. We don't want to be in a situation where we have a pile of cash but are having to chase players.

At least it's straightforward with Keane.

I don't think we will be starting talks - they've been ongoing for some time as they were for Matt Lowton who signed recently.jojomk1 wrote:Similar to Keane, out of contract at the end of next season

Re: Andre Gray contract situation
I'm not to fussed if Gray does want to leave there are replacements available in Kodjia, Tammy Abraham, Assombalonga, and others including Dembele a tad unrealistic, but how many more seasons would you want in Scotland after winning it all anyway.

Kodija, Abraham and Dembele I would suggest we have near zero chance of signing. Not sure why we'd want to replace Gray with Assombalonga.

Re: Andre Gray contract situation
Errm, has similar pace to Gray, also has good strength, scores headed goals as a bonus, has the second best goals per minute ratio in the champ this season, probably could get him for 6-7 mil, 24, room for some development.

Re: Andre Gray contract situation
If Gray does go - and im sure Tony is right that we've started negotiating months ago and the ball is in his court - I'd certainly be tempted by a look at Abraham if he is indeed available at a price in the teens of millions and we can afford him.
Apart from the other names, there's a lad at Huddersfield, Kachunga, who has impressed me when ive seen them this season. Also quick.

Who would cost us £6-7 million?wickdkewlclaret wrote:Errm, has similar pace to Gray, also has good strength, scores headed goals as a bonus, has the second best goals per minute ratio in the champ this season, probably could get him for 6-7 mil, 24, room for some development.
You don't mean Assombalonga do you?
He cost Forest £5 million plus another £3 million in addons.
Plus if that bell end is still the owner at Forest it isn't even worth talking to them.

Re: Andre Gray contract situation
I don't think Assombalonga is our man incidentally. Hes done ok this season but not pulled up trees and we need more than just pace.
I think yesterday might be a clue that Dyche may not necessarily want to replace Gray with a like for like replacement if he goes. Suspect he'll be looking for pace ourt wide or in 'the hole'.

Re: Andre Gray contract situation
Whatever he's on at Watford, he didn't sound too impressed with being there when he was speaking on Radio Five Live. There was the recent falling out with his team mates over their commitment too and I have the feeling that he's someone who would value being happy at a club above the simple issue of a wage.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Deeney is on 100k a week.

Re: Andre Gray contract situation
Keane is clearly a player in demand and looks like he might have the pick of some of the country's leading clubs.
Not sure that's the case with Gray. Ok, there's been some vague web chatter about a 20m move to Spurs, but they seem pretty well served for strikers and for that kind of money I'd want a player who knows how to control a football...
