The Palace miss when it was 1-0

Post by Spijed » Sun Apr 30, 2017 6:00 pm

Standing in the away end, it looked for all the world they were going to draw level but there don't seem to be any highlights of it on MOTD or anywhere else at the moment.

Should they have broken the back of the net, because from the angle we were at it looked a goal all the way?

I was in the home end with a mate (Palace supporter) and he jumped out of his seat in 'celebration' and dislocated his knee. I don't know which was more painful - his damaged left leg or his shame at having to accept that it had gone wide. I haven't seen a single re-run of that glaring miss though.

Was harder to miss the target. But dont forget tom heaton protects said target. That was enough for him to miss completeley.

Was stood level with the goal line and it was just a case of waiting for the net to bulge. Big sighs of relief

I don't think it was quite as easily as it looks, simply because the target wasn't actually protected by Heaton, or at least not exclusively. On this occasion it was also protected by 3 burnley blockers, led by Barnes who spotted the danger and flung himself in harms way. The result was that the target area was very small - they had to get it right in the corner.

Sort of spirit that encapsulates this side, actually. Made a great chance into a decent one by grit and determination.

There was a wall of yellow shirts in front of him
He went for the post and missed it.
Covered from behind both goals on BT live.
