Seeing a beaming smile on the face of the Duke of Edinburgh, at the side of the Daily Mail Rovers article, made me think, he's read it and is smiling at their plight.

Thought it summed things up pretty well

Hopefully, come two o'clock Sunday, he'll be f**king spinning.

And I'll dance bollock naked under the culvert.

Your in the premier league, yet nobody cares. Not Preston, Blackpool, Bolton or Rovers? Why? Cos your tinpot. You are viewed like Barnsley or Bradford when they were in the prem, a novelty with no long term future.

Rovers, Pool and Bolton cared when they were all above us.
Preston have always claimed to be superior when in the same league as us.

Its not our fault you lot have supposedly lost interest in us now you're all a league or 3 below us.

And they still think that if the Venky's go, everything will be rosy. Their players are no good, they have no competent directors, they are vastly in debt, and no-one in their right mind would pay enough to make them solvent; they have alienated their incompetent owners to such an extent that the owners are unlikely to write off the debt. They have been running at a loss for 25 years, relying on benevolent people chucking money at them year after year after year, they are making big losses, they have lost the parachute money, they have mortgaged future season ticket money, they don't have enough income to pay their expenses, they are bust.

The commercial loan of £1.8 million (at 8.6% interest) that was secured against the future season ticket money was due to be repaid by the end of March this year.

I'd be interested to know if that loan was in fact repaid.

And also why, if all all Venky's loans were interest free, were they even taking out commercial loans at high interest rates?......I suspect I know the answer to that question but will await confirmation.

Something about a tap and it being turned off Sidney?

Look at their last two years' accounts and the amount owing to Venky's is unchanged over a long period of time.

Can they benefit by going into administration? Not sure how that works...if they survive the drop, and go into admin...does that mean they would start the season debt free but have points deducted?

Even Chris Sutton admitted yesterday that even if they scab it on Sunday, it'll all
be the same next season.

It's an inexorable slide.

And yet one of your favourite players (stifles chuckle) Alan Shearer reckons if Conte doesn't get manager of the year, it should go to Sean Dyche or Eddie Howe.
Alan knows, and cares.

Administration works this way, roughly: the directors say they can't pay their debts, so the club declares itself (by some legal process) to be in administration. Then all the creditors get together, and have a vote to see how much money they are willing to accept. Voting is in proportion to how much money they are owed. It ususally goes one of two ways:

1. the majority creditor is the club's owner in some form; he agrees to write off a large chunk of what he is owed, either because he is feeling generous to his club and doesn't want to see it bankrupt, or because he wants to clear the debts and then he can sell his shares to some other mug. Basically he's settling for what he can get. This can be a dodgy business because there are laws to protect the owner from abusing his power and stiffing the other creditors. (Ken Bates didn't find it difficult at Leeds.)

2. the majority creditors are banks and HMRC. They don't have any fuzzy feelings for the club, but their duty in both cases is to get as much as they can. If they go for the full whack, the club goes bust and they get nothing; so they compromise and take less than full whack, a low enough sum that the club doesn't go bust and can therefore pay something.

That's the usual, and that's the reason why few clubs go properly bust. But there is a third way - the club may be so utterly bankrupt that the most the combined creditors can expect is say 5p in the pound; and the creditors may decide that for 5p in the pound, if they're owed £100m and will only get £5m, then they won't agree. They'll sue the club for every penny it's got and let it go out of business. This could be out of vindictiveness or it could be as a way of letting other people know that they aren't a soft touch - ie. lets other borrowers know it's pay up or else. If this happens, then there ain't no Blackburn rovers no more. Maybe Blackburn Olympic could re-form in the North West Counties. But this probably won't happen.

I think many Rovers fans will be looking back and realising that Jack Walker was the cause of the problems they now face. He created an unrealistic delusion amongst many Rovers fans that could never be sustained in the long-term. This means they have a generation of fans that will now refuse to support the club unless they are both in the premier league and they receive subsidised tickets. This creates a self-fulfilling implosion where, as more and more refuse to go, attendances continue to dwindle forcing either (a) another Jack Walker to come in and save them, or (b) higher ticket prices for the remaining hard core supporters to watch their team in the lower divisions of the Football League.
