Just found this on YouTube. Don't know if it's been posted before but worth a look, especially for younger fans who've never seen the terrace slums of Brunshaw Rd., before they were pulled down. The quality isn't very good, nor the football. I remember going to the match against Bristol Rovers and I couldn't understand how a Burnely team could lose to a team from a lower division. I was puzzled and distraught and furious.

Not seen that before. A few years before I started attending matches (1975) but still a few players I remember from those early years.

The funny thing is the turf hasnt changed much. A neutral could guess whos ground that was.
Good footage. I do miss the players running out from the cfs though.

At Everton, the Gladwys St. end and the side where the cameras are, are way older, but modernized. They really are ancient, unless I've been fooled by a replica design.

Re Goodison, don't suppose anyone knows when they took those little 'cresent' bits from behind the goals?

Thought it was later on.
Went to watch Alty there in the cup with someone in the mid 70s and talking the other week, we couldn't remember if they were there for that game.
Never thought about YouTubing it.

Still there in November 1977, but I think the change was made shortly afterwards.

In the 60's, the Beehole end actually had a similar but smaller crescent for a short while.

Great 'Burnley' goal for Everton against Coventry and some fantastic crossing from Dave Thomas and R.I.P. Brian Moore, my favourite commentator.

Spot on, cheers, Martin.
It was still there for the Altrincham cup game then.

Watched some of the you tube clips of early 70s games. Leighton James looks some player then. My clear memories of watching him are in the 4th division only. Must have been a privilege to have seen him in the early 70s.

Produced a lot of moments of footy brilliance in his first spell with us.
Do remember him getting a bit of stick from the Longside when he came back with Derby when they beat us 1-0 though.

Tell you what. The standard in that gsme especilly from everton is bloody good. Well impressive. As are the crowds.martin_p wrote:Still there in November 1977, but I think the change was made shortly afterwards.

But best of all no co commentator. 'Keeper shouldnt be beaten at his near post' 'bad defending' 'need to stop the cross'.
Just enjoy the bloody game.

A mate of mine played for Altrincham in the game you refer to. He was called John Davison (Bobsy') and was booed roundly by the Everton fans after a rash tackle on their forward, John Connolly, resulted in a broken leg for the Everton man.Buxtonclaret wrote:Cheers, Pstsotto

Re: Film footage of BFC in Watney Cup 1972
Yep.
Think I recall that, Silky.
It was a bit bad tempered at both Goodison and OT.
Also went to the replay at Old Trafford.
Those were the days when you could decide a few hours before kick off if you fancied going to a match.

You certainly could. Went to Maine Rd. in late 70's to see a replay there between Altrincham and Spurs. Over 40,000 on that night.

Great footage, great find.
'Shooting in' for the warm-up, just like up Towneley; loved those socks - were they all claret or all dark blue?; probably my favourite Burnley team with my favourite player, Frank Casper, of whom there is cruelly so little film record of

Re: Film footage of BFC in Watney Cup 1972
Went to the game at Lincoln. End of July and very warm day. Good end to the previous season (6 wins in 6games) had given Adamson some breathing space but still a lot of work to do. Not a convincing performance that day. Shorts were Claret and socks blue with claret hoops.
